August 24th - 28th

A very WELCOME BACK to the 2026-27 school year, Pirates! 🏴‍☠️

As the new school year gets off and running, Benefits Open Enrollment is just around the corner! We know this time of year is already busy, so we want to make the enrollment process as easy and convenient as possible.

To help, we will be offering in-person open enrollment at each building. You are STRONGLY encouraged to complete your enrollment in person. This is a great opportunity to:

  • Minimize enrollment mistakes
  • Ask questions and get help understanding your benefit options
  • Review your elections and make sure everything is accurate
  • Make adjustments to your 403(b) retirement plan—an important step if you want to take advantage of the district match!

IMPORTANT: All eligible employees MUST complete open enrollment, even if you choose to waive coverage or do not plan to make any changes to your current benefits.

We’re here to help make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. We look forward to seeing you during open enrollment and helping you make the most of your benefits!

Medical

Beginning October 1, 2026, the district’s health insurance provider will change from Aetna to Cigna. The new plan year will run from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. The benefit elections you make during Open Enrollment will remain in effect for the entire plan year.

A new plan feature for 2026–27 will be the addition of the Cigna LocalPlus® Network to the PPO tier. LocalPlus is a smaller, focused network of healthcare providers and hospitals. This network provides access to a select group of participating providers while offering another option for employees to consider when choosing their healthcare coverage.

Please note that deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums will continue to follow a calendar-year basis, beginning January 1.

Plan rates for the 2026–27 plan year can be found on page 7 of the Benefits Guide. Be sure to carefully review the plan options, rates, and network information as you make your benefit elections.

Dental

Beginning October 1, 2026, the district’s dental coverage will transition from Delta Dental to Cigna. The district will continue to offer a dual-option dental plan, giving employees the flexibility to choose the level of coverage that best meets their needs.

The buy-up plan will continue to offer the same deductible levels and child orthodontia benefits as the base plan, with preventive services covered at 100%.

For those who need additional coverage, the buy-up plan offers:

  • Basic services: Covered at 90%
  • Major services: Covered at 60%
  • Annual maximum: $1,500

Plan rates for the 2026–27 plan year can be found on page 15 of the Benefits Guide. Be sure to review both plan options to determine which coverage best fits your needs.

Vision

Beginning October 1, 2026, the district’s vision plan will transition from Surency to Cigna. The plan features and benefits will remain largely the same as the previous year, with a few enhancements.

Just as with Surency, the EyeMed network will continue to be used, providing access to the same broad network of participating vision providers.

One exciting enhancement for the 2026–27 plan year is an increase in the frame allowance from $140 to $180.

Plan rates for the 2026–27 plan year can be found on page 17 of the Benefits Guide. Be sure to review the plan information and rates as you make your benefit elections.

Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts

The IRS establishes annual contribution limits for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). For additional information about these accounts and the applicable limits, please refer to pages 11–14 of the Open Enrollment Guide.

For the 2026–27 plan year, the district will make the following monthly HSA contributions based on the medical plan selected:

  • $45.84 per month for employees enrolled in the Open Access Plus HDHP
  • $104.57 per month for employees enrolled in the LocalPlus HDHP

Be sure to review the Open Enrollment Guide for additional information about HSA eligibility, contribution limits, and how the district contributions work with each plan.

Voluntary 403(b) Retirement Program

The district will continue the 403b matching program. For each monthly contribution that you make, the district will contribute a matching amount up to $40.

How To Take Advantage of the 403(b) Match How To Take Advantage of the 403(b) Match

We don't want to see employees leave free money on the table! To take advantage of the district match you will need to meet with Modern Advisor Group during Open Enrollment.

  • Earning the district match is simple. Contribute $40 or more per month ($20/paycheck) and you will receive the district match.

How do you know how much you are contributing?

  • Your contributions will appear under the "Deductions" section on your paystub with the code "403B CONTRIB" and/or "ROTH CONTRIB" depending on which type of account you contribute to.
  • The Districts contribution will appear under the "Benefits" section on your paystub with the code "403B CONTRIB".

It is recommended that you meet with Modern Advisor Group EVERY year during Open Enrollment!

Jon and Terry will have a copy of your investment account profile with them. Even if you don't plan on making any changes, it's a great time to check in on your money!
