Saint of the Month
Living Like the Saints
Welcome to October and our Saint of the month, Saint Jane Frances de Chantal. She is best known for co-founding The Order of The Visitation of Holy Mary with her spiritual director, St. Francis de Sales. That great legacy was accomplished through God's grace only after and through many seasons of life, great loss, anxiety, and depression. She was born in 1572 to a noble French family. Sadly, she grew up without her mother who died when Jane was not yet two-years old. She married in her early twenties and delivered six children enduring the loss of two in infancy. Less than ten years married, Jane became a widow after her husband was killed in a tragic hunting accident. Several trying years later, Jane was introduced to the Bishop of Geneva, St. Francis de Sales. He became her spiritual director guiding her, gently, toward total consecration to God. The Order they founded was unique in its time, open to vocations for those women turned down by other religious orders, unable to live out a strict discipline. Their charisms are humility and meekness in imitation of the virtues modeled by the Blessed Virgin Mary at the time of the Visitation. The women of the Order would live simple lives of prayer attending to the needs of the poor and needy. At the time of her death in 1641, she had founded eighty-six convents. Among others, she is patron of forgotten people, mothers, widows, and parents separated from their children. St. Jane Frances, pray for us!
If your family practiced living out the virtue of Humility during the month of Sep, please let us know how below! Entries completed by Oct 5th will be included in a drawing for gift cards for local goodies!
We Learn
PBIS
In September and October, our PBIS school-wide lesson will focus on personal space. Lessons will be taught to all students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Teachers and staff have noticed more students displaying physical touch in the hallways and on the playground, so these lessons will help students practice respecting each other’s personal space in different settings.
To reinforce this at home, parents can:
- Model appropriate personal space during family interactions.
- Use clear language to remind children about their “personal bubble.”
- Praise their child when they respect others’ personal space.
- Role-play different social situations where personal space matters (e.g., standing in line, greeting a friend, playing on the playground, sitting at the dinner table).
Battle of the Books
Calling all readers in grades 3–8, both school and parish! Battle of the Books is a fun, team-based competition where students “battle” by answering questions about the books they’ve read—an exciting academic twist on a sporting event.
New this year: winners will advance to a Diocesan-level Finals against other Catholic schools!
Learn more and register by Thurs, Oct 16 through St. Luke’s Events.

- Make a gift to the wine pull. Details below.
For just $20 a pull (or 3 pulls for $50), participants get to draw a mystery bottle of fine wine to take home and enjoy. The fun is in the surprise—every bottle is worth at least $20, and some are valued much higher!
To make this possible, we need your help stocking the rack! We’re asking for donations of bottled red wines valued at $20 or more. Dry, sweet, port, sparkling, or dessert—any style is welcome!
Drop off your bottles at the parish office anytime between now and Oct 13.
Don’t let those unopened bottles gather dust—donate them to Oxtoberfest and let them bring joy to someone else’s table!
