SPS Family Newsletter
October 30, 2026
Picture of the week: Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, our school installed a "Little Lending Library" this year for student, families, and friends of the school to use. Come check it out! See below for more information about the library and what kinds of books we hope people will share.
Saint Peter School is a Nut-Free School
Saint Peter School is a nut-free school because of the risk to students with severe allergies, we kindly request that families do not pack snacks or lunches that contain peanuts, tree nuts, or other common allergens (including shellfish). The reason for this policy is that we have several students at the school that can experience anaphylaxis responses when exposed to food items they are allergic to, a response which poses a risk to their wellbeing, health, or even their life. If you have any questions about the allergies present in your child(ren)’s classroom(s), please contact their homeroom teacher or the school nursing staff.
We are reminding parents about the risk because we had an allergy incident at school this week due to an item containing nuts being brought to school and shared with a student with an allergy. We ask each and every one of you to please double-check your children's snacks and other foods to ensure that it does not contain peanuts; for the safety of this student in particular, but also for all of our other students. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
Welcome Mrs. Orozco!
Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Dorothea Orozco to our faculty. Mrs. Orozco will be covering our Music Teacher position while Mrs. Gaudette is out on medical leave. Mrs. Orozco has a B.A. in music Education and is completing her M.A. in Music Education. She has experience teaching choir to grades 4-8 in upstate New York, and has taught music at the Goddard school for the past few years; she is also an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Revere, MA.
She started working this week, and has met with all of our classes already! she is hard at work on getting our Christmas Pageant on track for a beautiful performance on December 18th! If you see Mrs. Orosco, please say hello!

Altar Server Training
St. Peter School
Thursday, December 3rd
(We’ll meet at the parish hall right after school at 3:15 PM. Once you enter the middle school, walk to the end of the hallway and go through the door with the narrow window to reach the parish hall.
Once we’re all together, we’ll head to the main church.)
Are you between the ages of 7 and 14 and interested in serving as an Altar Server at St. Peter Parish? We invite you to attend our upcoming Altar Server Training.
Serving at the altar is a beautiful ministry and an opportunity to draw closer to Christ by assisting at the Sacred Liturgy with reverence, attentiveness, and joy.
To make the training more effective and more expeditious, those who plan to attend are asked to contact Hector Cortes in advance so that a training manual can be provided ahead of time. Participants are encouraged to review the manual with their parents before the training.
Requirements:
Those who desire to serve as Altar Servers must have received the Sacrament of Baptism and First Holy Communion (Eucharist).
For more information or to receive the training manual, please contact:

Hey, SPS families! Have you heard? We’re excited to announce that St. Peter School is launching a 3-year-old program in Fall 2027!
We’re in the early stages of planning, and we want to hear from YOU! Would St. Peter School be where your 3-year-old begins their educational journey? We’d love to know what you’re looking for in a program and what would make SPS the right fit for your youngest learner.
Interested in learning more or sharing your thoughts? Reach out to Wendy Burns, Director of
Admissions & Enrollment! wburns@saint-peter-school.org

SPS Library Projects
Lending Library
The SPS “Lending Library” will act as a normal lending library for the whole Saint Peter School Community: students, parents, faculty, etc. The school will supply the initial stock of books for the lending library. As with typical lending libraries, the expectation is to take a book and leave a book. These books do not have a due date and do not even need to be returned because a replacement is provided when the book is taken.
While the library is meant for all members of the SPS community, because students will be able to choose any book from the library, all books that are left in the library must abide by the following standards:
- The book must be free of swear words.
- The book must contain no romance that goes beyond a chaste kiss.
- The book must not contain any graphic violence/gore.
- The book must not promote values that are in direct conflicts with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- The books must not have a political stance.
Please note: The librarian will go through the materials in the lending library biweekly to ensure these standards are being met. Any materials that violate the above standards will be promptly removed and discarded. If you find a material that violates this standard, please remove the book and contact the school immediately.
