Charger Check-In
May 7 , 2026
Good Afternoon SCA Families,
May is in full swing, and our calendar continues to be filled with many meaningful and exciting events as we head toward the end of the school year!
We are looking forward to our upcoming May Crowning, a beautiful Catholic tradition that gives us the opportunity to honor Mary and come together in prayer as a school community. We are grateful to celebrate and share these faith-filled experiences with our students.
Our ThunderBolts Field Trip is also quickly approaching! We are excited for a fun day together as a school community and appreciate your support in returning permission slips and helping students prepare for the event.
This morning, our Preschool students and families enjoyed Muffins with Moms. Thank you to our PreK team for organizing such a special event for our families. Opportunities like these truly highlight the strong sense of community that makes St. Catherine so special.
As we head into the weekend, we also want to take a moment to recognize all of the incredible women in our community. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms and to those who serve as mother figures, those who love, guide, support, encourage, and care for others each and every day. Your impact does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for all that you do for your families and our school community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout this busy and joyful season.
God Bless and Go Chargers!
Ms. Zerth
Growing Strong in Preschool 3s and 4s
Preschool 3 is blessed to have Julie as the lead teacher for our PreK 3 Chargers! Our priority is to have our new preK teachers surrounded by veteran staff who know our school inside and out. Welcoming our littlest Chargers into school for the first time is of the utmost importance to us! We are thrilled to have our teachers recognize how special this is. We want to make sure our preschool experience continues to be warm and welcoming. A place where students learn through dramatic play and academic centered themes! With new staff changes happening in our preschool program, we are so blessed to have Kathleen Hennessy continue to head our preschool program and our PreK 4s for the 2026/2027 school year and Julie take on the preK 3 role. These changes will ensure the traditions our previous preschool teachers worked hard to instill and will be sure to be carried on for our future Chargers! These are traditions and qualities that make Chargers who they are at the core...Christ centered, disciples, and all of the qualities that embody a Charger!

🚧Neighborhood Construction & Pick-Up/Drop Off Procedures 🚧
A new construction project on the west side of Pulaski Rd. at 107th St. is impacting foot traffic and making an already challenging crossing more difficult. Please use extra caution and remain vigilant when crossing at this intersection.
Kedvale Ave. (between 107th St. and 105th St.) and Karlov Ave. (between 105th Pl. and 106th Pl.) are designated school zones with a maximum speed limit of 20 MPH.
Illinois law prohibits the use of cell phones and other handheld devices while driving in a posted school speed zone. This applies to all drivers, regardless of age.
The North parking lot is reserved for faculty only. It should not be used for through traffic, student drop-off, or pick-up, as there is significant student foot traffic during these times.
Due to ongoing construction at 107th St. and Pulaski Rd., as well as upcoming work along 105th St., please plan ahead and allow extra time for drop-off and pick-up.

SAFETY REMINDER 🚨
For the safety of our children, we kindly ask that when guests are entering or exiting the building, you do not hold the door open for others. Each adult should pause at the door and ring the bell, letting us know who they are and the reason for their visit. This helps us ensure we are aware of everyone in the building. These guidelines also apply during Extended Care pick-up.
Thank you so much for your understanding and support in helping us keep our children safe and secure.
5/5 I-Ready Diagnostic Window Opened
This diagnostic is an important tool that helps us better understand your child’s individual strengths and areas for growth. The information gathered allows our teachers to provide more targeted instruction and support throughout the remainder of the school year.
To help your child do their best, we encourage:
- A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast
- Remind your child to take their time and not rush
- Encourage them to simply do their best work
