Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the new school year at Elmwood Elementary School - Home of the Panthers!

We are excited to have your child join us as we embark on a new year of learning and growth. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Our school vision focuses on three clear goals: Every student is physically and emotionally safe. Every student is engaged as a learner. Every student is at or above grade level.

As we begin this year, I want to highlight some of our goals and initiatives:

1. Academic Excellence: Our curriculum is designed to challenge and engage students at every level. This year we will be focusing on empowering students to take ownership of their learning experiences through interdisciplinary instruction that fosters curiosity, real-world problem-solving and participating in community-based learning projects.

2. Social-Emotional Learning and Belonging: We believe emotional well-being is just as important as academic achievement. Our school will continue to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to foster a positive school culture and encourage students to be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. Belonging is also an important part of well-being, which is why our House System will continue to bring students and staff together. Every student and staff member belongs to one of our four houses. Throughout the year, we build community through whole-school assemblies, house meetings, collaborative projects, and other activities that help everyone feel connected and valued.

3. Parent Involvement: We value your partnership in your child’s education. Throughout the year, we will host various events, such as our Parent Appreciation Night in September, parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring, monthly Chat and Chews led by our parent liaison, and more, all aimed at strengthening our community. We encourage you to participate and share your ideas, as your involvement is crucial to your child’s success.

4. Communication: We are committed to keeping you informed about your child’s progress and school activities. Please ensure that we have your updated contact information. Open House is this Wednesday, August 19th, from 4:30pm to 6pm. We look forward to meeting you and sharing important documents and information to establish two-way communication and feedback for the year. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns, and be sure to check our monthly newsletters and website for important updates.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. Together, we can make this year a wonderful experience filled with learning and growth.

Warm regards,
