Trimmier Parent Newsletter
September 1, 2023
From Mrs. Avery
Welcome to September!! I hope the cool weather catches up to us! We have some fun events planned this month. Our students continue to work hard each day on their new learning. The next few weeks we will begin our MAP testing of students. These tests give us a baseline on where our students are. As we move through the year and give the test again at the middle and end of year, we use these tests to measure growth. Please help your student by getting them to school on time each day and have them get a good night’s sleep at night.
We are having some issues with dress code. Our girls are wearing crop tops that are way too short. Please have a tank top under the shirt if your students wants to wear the cropped shirts. The KISD Student code of Conduct has the dress code on pages 56-57. If you have any questions, please give us a call. The Student Code of Conduct can be found on our website as well as the KISD website. The link is also below. We are also asking that the proper shoes are being worn for PE. We appreciate all the support every day.
As always, thank you for your continued support.

From Our Communities in Schools Site Director
Communities in School
Hello! My name is Nilka Quinones; I am Puerto Rican, and I have lived in Killeen for around seven years. This is my second year working with Communities in School. My primary goal is to provide your students with resources to ensure the best educational experience possible, empowering them to stay in school and achieve all their goals.
Communities in School is a non-profit agency dedicated and focused on providing you with the support that your student may need. We have different ways to help your child and our school. We can help with tutoring, vision vouchers, clothing, and etc.
If you need help, please let me know, and I will try to help you the best I can. I will connect you with another community resource if I cannot to provide direct assistance.

From the PE Department
Dear Trimmier Elementary Families:
The P.E. department is looking forward to having a great year filled with fitness and fun! We have lots of exciting activities planned for your children this year that are aligned with the Texas state requirements for physical education. Grades will be determined by the student’s ability to perform skills based on the Texas physical education standards. Generally, skill and fitness improvement are products of effort and attitude. Should your child need to be excused from a PE class, a parent note is good for three days only. Should the child need to be excused for more than three days, a doctor’s note is necessary with beginning and ending dates. If you wish to discuss anything pertaining to your child/children’s Physical Education class/grade, feel free to call the school office at 254- 336-2270 and leave a message. We will return your call during our conference time or after school.
Expectations for the Teachers:
Be Respectful
• Love and respect each student
Be Responsible
• Share our knowledge of health and physical education with the students.
• Teach life-long skills of following directions and being responsible for your own actions.
• Inspire students to reach their full potential in all they do.
Be Safe
• Make PE class a fun and safe place to learn where skills and self-esteem are developed.
Expectations for the student:
Be Respectful
• Show respect for self and others by using appropriate language and keeping hands and feet to yourself. Use PE equipment properly.
• Show good sportsmanship, do your best, and HAVE FUN!
Be Responsible
• Enter the PE room quickly and quietly, then follow directions given by teacher.
Be Safe
• Dress appropriately. For the safety of your child and others, please have your child wear tennis shoes to PE class, and shorts under skirts and dresses.
• We encourage you to send your child with a water bottle with their name clearly marked on it to help ensure hydration. (water only)
In the Sincere Interest of Your Child,
