Principal's Corner- October 12, 2026

Because of the short weeks last week and this, I decided to do a mid-week newsletter. It seems the shortest weeks pack the most in them! This is homecoming week and all things hoco are listed below.

Our Family Engagement team works hard to bring quality speakers, information sessions, and programming to campus. Is there something you'd like to see or hear about? Complete the Title I Family Survey below.

All-Region Mariachi

13 Holmes/NSITE students earned a spot in the All-Region Mariachi ensemble, making us the school with the most students selected. Even more impressive, 3 of our students earned 1st Chair in their respective sections! 4 of our students advanced to All-Area, where they will now compete for the opportunity to be among the best mariachi musicians in the state through the All-State auditions.

Congratulations to all, especially Isabella Talamantes, 1st Area Arpa, and Lenise Gieger 2nd vihuela.

Ongoing Reminders

Cell Phones

Phones and personal communication devices must be put away and not used during the entire school day. (8:50-4:20) If headphones or earbuds are visible, phones will be confiscated as well. This rule applies to:

  • Classrooms

  • Hallways

  • Passing periods

  • Lunch

If a phone is confiscated, parents/guardians listed in the system are the only ones who are capable of picking up the phone from the Holmes front office.

IDs

A valid student ID is required to enter a secure building. You MUST have a student ID every day and it should be visible while on campus.

Students, please DO NOT bang or kick on exterior doors to be let into a building. This can cause damage to our doors and our campus—and could also result in costly repairs. which you will be responsible for. Knocking on exterior doors is disruptive to the students who arrived on time.

Find an administrator or staff member to open the door for you.

Campus Visitors

Parents, guardians, and visitors are required to present a state issued ID to enter the front office and conduct school business. Please make sure you have your ID.
