General information that applies to all students and parents can be found towards the top of every newsletter, while information specific to your child's ensemble can be found in that particular section by scrolling down. Feel free to contact a director if you have any questions and our contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter.
Online Payments Now Active
By using this Forms page of our website, you can now pay online for School-Owned Instrument Usage Fees, Uniform Shirts, and Auto Decals by using the MySchoolBucks service. Each item is listed separately on the website, and there is a convenience fee for using this service. Alternatively, we accept Cash or Checks made payable to BMS with a valid phone number.
Regardless of which way you pay, your CutTime MagicLink has now been updated so you can see your student's financial statement that includes how much you owe for what items, as well as what you have already paid. Remember payments are due by Friday, September 13.
Private Lessons Are AWESOME!!
Lessons are the fastest way students improve on their instrument because they have a quality teacher guiding them in their development of proper tone, rhythm, style, and musicality. Students enrolled in lessons usually earn first division superior ratings, make the All-Region Band, and have more fun learning their instrument because they sound better, faster.
- Check out our list of quality lessons teachers by clicking here, AND- Sign Up for Private Lessons here!
Please read the document below that outlines the benefits of taking private lessons that occur during your child's band class! Email Mr. Trahan here if you have any questions about lessons.

Band Calendar
Music Literacy Starts This Week!
This week, Beginners will start their journey to become a superior musician with daily lessons from Readymade Music. We want your student to become more than just "button pushers" but fully musically literate by learning how to count, read, and play music!
The first thing we want them to do is to memorize this Staff Chant for both the Treble & Bass Clefs as we learning the lines and spaces of the musical staff. This will get them well on their way to learning their notes before we place their instrument in their hands.
We will also create our flashcards this week so they can name their first 6 notes on the staff in 8 seconds. Both of these flashcard tests are a major grade. Students can redo their flashcard tests multiple times to name them in under 8 seconds for their first major grades of 100.
After School Sectionals
Sectionals will start on Monday, August 26 until Friday, November 1 one day after school per week from 4:00-5:00pm. The sectional schedule will be sent out later this week.
