REDSKIN ROLL CALL- SEPTEMBER 2026

Back in the Groove! Back in the Groove!

One month down—and we’re finding our rhythm! The alarms are set, backpacks are packed, schedules are getting familiar, and the school-year routine is officially back in full swing. We want to give a huge THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to our students, parents, and families for making it through the first month and helping us kick off another great year! Now that we’ve had a few weeks to settle in, it’s time to really get back in the groove.

Great attendance isn’t just about being at school—it’s about building a rhythm that works: getting enough sleep, planning ahead, arriving on time, keeping track of our schedules, and being accountable for how we use our time. Those small, everyday habits add up to something BIG.

There may be a few missed beats along the way (we all have them!), but the goal is to get right back into the rhythm and keep moving forward. Every class. Every day. Every minute matters.

A Little SJHS Laugh!

Why did Ms. Oveson wear sunglasses to school all month?

Because the students at SJHS are SO BRIGHT! ☀️😎

Keep showing up, shining bright, and giving us plenty of reasons to need those shades!

Find your rhythm. Own your time. Show up and shine.

Attendance Goal Update Attendance Goal Update

We’re Close, SJHS!

Our goal this year is to have 97.5% of our students in school every day, and right now we are sitting at 97.1%! We may be just shy of our goal, but we are SO CLOSE! Even with the extra absences that came along with Apache County Fair activities, our students have continued to show up and make attendance count. Now we need one more push to get that number back above 97.5%—and every student can help us get there!

Our next challenge:

GET HERE. GET TO CLASS. GET THERE ON TIME.

While 97.1% attendance is something to be proud of, we still have students who are struggling with arriving at school on time, returning from lunch on time, or getting to class before the bell rings. Remember, being on campus is only part of the goal—every class and every minute matter!

Parents and guardians, if you're reading this and wondering, “Could this be my student?” please reach out to Alex Montgomery at (928) 337-2221 or alex.montgomery@staff.sjusd.net to request a copy of your student's tardy and out-of-class passes. We are happy to help you see where your student stands so we can work together to get SJHS BACK ABOVE 97.5%!

Be Here. Be Brilliant. Belong.

Be Present. Be Prepared. Be on Time!

Students and Families,

Tardies are becoming a concern, particularly during first and fifth hours. Arriving late causes students to miss valuable instruction and disrupts the learning environment.

Please help us ensure students arrive at school on time each morning and report promptly to fifth hour after lunch. Being on time is an important habit that supports both academic success and personal responsibility.

Thank you for your support!
