Cohasset High School Newsletter
News and Happenings at Cohasset High School
October 16, 2026
Dear Families,
Yesterday, our senior class delivered a heartfelt card to a middle school student who has recently been diagnosed with a significant medical challenge and just completed his first round of treatments for it. A single post to the Google Classroom -- Wear Blue on Thursday -- was overwhelmingly received, with no questions asked. It was the kind of example of Love, Inclusion, and Trust, that I hope our community becomes known for.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, these types of acts have become commonplace, and while on the one hand I understand the sentiment that true generosity is private, on the other, I have a unique platform in which to show the world that -- in the words of Joseph Osgood -- this is who we are and this is what we do.
So we will continue to highlight those things that make us great. Not the trophies and the ribbons and the status markers, but those things that happen organically, when our students and our faculty see a need, realize they can help, and do without asking permission. There is a lot that has happened in the first few weeks of school, and I could not be more proud to show our response.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Brian T. Scott
Principal

Get in the Spirit!
In preparation for the Homecoming game on Friday, October 23rd at 6PM, CHS launches Spirit Week 2026.
The fun starts Monday, October 19 with spirit days for dressing up. While seniors keep their dress-up days top secret, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and even teachers will flaunt their creativity in a series of costume theme days, as listed below.
After lunch on Friday, October 23, all pile into the gym for the annual pep rally. This includes a competition to see which class can out decorate each other’s bleacher section, lots of embarrassing games with plenty of cheating, loud music and ultimately, a video montage of footage from all the fall sports because, well, we are Cohasset after all. Friday night lights kicks off at 6PM with character awards at halftime. The night culminates in a post-game Homecoming Dance in the cafeteria, the proceeds for which are meant to help fund the 2027 senior prom.
Underclassmen:
Monday - Under the Sea
Tuesday - Meme Day
Wednesday - USA / red-white-blue
Thursday - Billy Madison (dress like a teacher or Adam Sandler)
Friday - Class Bleacher Theme

Bienvenue aux étudiants français!
Kudos to Mr. Grasmann and his students for welcoming students from Lycée Sainte-Clothilde in Strasbourg , France this week. The French Exchange a long-duration Project-Based Learning experience that starts in sixth grade. Everything is built to culminate with practice using French to work through real-world moments. It is also everything the French Program here at Cohasset is structured to prepare our students for.
Our students helped to create meaningful memories and global citizens with stronger communication skills, and did so with the kindness, open-minded and affable nature of our students when confronted with linguistic and cultural barriers. This was evidenced by what our counterparts from Strasbourg did while here both in and out of the high school: they taught middle schoolers French, participated in Mindful Art, a Robotics Class contest, and saw a real American cafeteria.
Evidence of being fully present for others and problem-solving for real world problems was easily observable during the tour of Cohasset HS and the town with the HS Seniors. The Seniors worked out the ideas, the logistics and implemented all of the experiences for their day. Eren Tiryaki led a tour of the Maritime History Museum in town in both French and English. Grant Wilson, Dylan Jewell and Scarlett Crews gave an introduction to our town and lead them around in both French and English.
After school, both students and families organized themselves to have a rowing practice, a charcuterie board and BBQ experience as well as fire pit and game night.
Well done!
Alumni Spotlight!
Congratulations to graduate Amara Pierce, who earned 1st Place in the Deese College FRST 101 Midterm Pitch Competition where freshmen are challenged to identify real-world problems, develop solutions, think critically, communicate their ideas, and pitch those ideas in front of an audience and judges. Sponsored by HBCUniverse, she received a $5,000.00 scholarship award.
The challenge title was Eco Friendly AI and her project was named Eco Mode.

This past week, members of the Green Halloween subcommittee of the Green Team drove with Coach A to the Edgerly Family South Boston Club to donate the Halloween costumes collected from last year.
