Review:
We hosted our 5th Grade Parent Night on February 5th. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. We enjoyed meeting many new families and reconnecting with so many families with older siblings who alreaady attended AMS. If you were unable to attend, we have linked the information provided below. Just click the buttons to access slideshows and handouts.
On February 19th, we hosted our Route 5/6 Activity Night! It was lots of fun! The 5th graders were able to meet some of our current AMS students and make some new friends from other schools.
This week Mrs. Echols and Ms. Amico, the middle school counselors for the class of 2033 made elementary school visits to all four of our feeder schools. They passed out blue scheduling forms to all students. Students will submit these forms to their 5th grade teachers and we will then begin to build their middle school schedules! The forms are also linked below.
Preview:
Students will submit their blue forms to their elementary teachers by March 17th. Please spend some time with your student thinking about exploratory classes and advanced course opportunities.
Mark your calendar for 6th Grade Orientation on August 13th! We will have a half day of orientation for all students as well as Camp Sucess for invited students who may need some extra time to acclimate to middle school.
The Best Thing:
The Best Thing is hard to choose becuase we have had so many great activities and opportunities to get to know our new 6th graders. I have to say that the best thing was hosting the Route 5/6 Activity Night. We had so many current students who were excited to share their AMS experiences and it is wonderful to see the growth between the incoming 6th graders and our outgoing 8th graders. Great things are happening here!
See you soon!

Scheduling
Mrs. Echols and Ms. Amico visited all elementary schools this week for scheduling presentations. Students received their blue scheduling sheet. The should have brought that sheet home to talk with you about their selections. Students will choose band or choir and be able to give exploratory preferences.
MS Band Update
On February 19th, Mr. Smith came to the elementary schools with some amazing band students to introduce them to different instruments. Remember, we offer beginner, intermediate and advanced band options. If your student didn't choose band as a 5th grader, they can still choose that option. Band is a full year commitment and students should plan to finish the full year of band.
