π« Leaving ASD at the End of the Year? π«
If your student is NOT returning to ASD after this school year, make sure you read this!
If your student is NOT returning to ASD next year, whether because you're moving out of state or your student is transferring to a different school district in Alaska, here are two important steps to know:
Step 1: Notify Mrs. Christina! Mrs. Christina, our Registrar, will be able to provide you with the withdrawal process to ensure a smooth transition.
Step 2: Prepare your student to turn in their Chromebook at the end of the school year.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Christina Kelly at 907-742-3609 or by email at kelly_christina@asdk12.org.

π Counselor Corner π
As we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to provide parents and guardians with tools to support their middle schoolerβs mental health. Adolescence is a time of immense change, and emotional support is vital.
How to Talk to Your Middle Schooler About Mental Health:
- Listen More Than You Talk: Create a safe space for them to share without judgment.
- Normalize "Big Feelings": Let them know itβs normal to feel angry, sad, or anxious.
- Watch for Changes: Notice if their behavior shifts (eating, sleeping, or social habits change).
- Encourage Social Connection: Encourage in-person interaction with friends, which is crucial for emotional stability in 2026.
If you have any questions or need more resources, please reach out to your student's counselor.
