Last Week of March Updates and STAAR Preparation
Dear Hornet Parents,
As we enter the last week of March, we want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Your involvement through monitoring grades, encouraging attendance, and reinforcing expectations at home plays a powerful role in your child’s success, and we truly appreciate all that you do.
As we approach the upcoming STAAR testing season, this is a critical time for students to remain focused and engaged in their learning. Over the next several weeks, students will be reviewing key concepts, strengthening skills, and preparing for these important assessments. Your support at home is essential in helping students feel confident and ready.
You can support your child by ensuring they attend school daily, arrive on time, complete assignments, and take time to read and review material at home. Encouraging a positive mindset and reinforcing the importance of doing their best will help students approach testing with confidence.
Preparing for STAAR Success
• Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening
• Encourage daily attendance and punctuality
• Provide a quiet space for homework and reading
• Encourage your child to read at least 15 to 20 minutes each day
• Talk with your child about their learning and celebrate their progress
As we move through this final stretch before testing, our goal is to support every student in reaching their full potential. With strong teamwork between school and home, we can help our Hornets feel prepared and successful. Thank you again for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to finishing the semester strong together.

Please help us ensure your child is aware of the new state policies!
Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, we will start enforcing student ID requirements.
We want to ensure that all parents and students are aware of our campus tardy policy.
Slight changes have been made the to the bell schedule.
The goals of this revision are to (1) reduce hallway congestion during transitions and (2) streamline the day by reducing the total number of bells. The updated bell schedule is attached below.

Parents are not allowed to walk students to their class.
Doors will open at 8:00 am.
Car-riders/walkers will enter through the bus ramp doors.
CAR RIDERS
There will be TWO lanes open for the car rider line.
Please DO NOT drop off students prior to the drop-off zone.
Staff members will direct traffic and guide vehicles to the designated drop off/pick up zones.
To ensure our students are safe, please DO NOT drop off or pick up students from the staff parking lot. We do not want our students crossing the walkway in front of moving vehicles.

Student Hornet Policies
Attention Parents:
We want to ensure that all students are aware of our campus policies and expectations. We have attached the student hornet policies for you to review with your children.
Please be sure to take a look at the dress code, as we have students that have been out of dress code.
English: Hornet Policies
Spanish: Las Políticas De Los Hornets
We are aware that our hornet students want to show their pride at athletic events and we want them to attend as many as possible!
As per the new Channelview Athletic Regulations, students attending games on campus- both Elementary & Middle School must be accompanied by a supervising adult and remain seated with them at all times.
We understand that this is different from previous year, but it is important that we communicate this with you all.
We hope that with your collaboration we can inform all of our students of this new policy!
