Consistency is Key Consistency is Key

Dear Families,

As we continue to grow and learn alongside our children, we are reminded that consistency is key to success. As adults, when we begin a new workout plan, we have to stick with it—even when it’s hard—in order to build habits and see results. The same is true when helping children establish routines and positive behaviors.

When we start something new, it’s natural to want instant results—especially in a culture where so much is available to us right away. But when we don’t see progress as quickly as we’d like, we may feel tempted to give up or try something new. With our children, however, it’s important to stay consistent. Whether we are working to encourage a new habit or address a challenging behavior, changing strategies too quickly can make it harder for children to learn and adjust.

By staying the course and giving our efforts time to take root, we are much more likely to see the growth we’re hoping for. Consistency provides children with the structure and security they need to succeed.

As we’re reminded in Galatians 6:9:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
