Vision for Green Sea Floyds Elementary
Greatness - Service - Family
Green Sea Floyds Elementary is committed to the service of all students. We aspire to empower students to achieve greatness by providing meaningful learning experiences and fostering a family atmosphere that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all students.
GSFE Greatness: Rise with Reading at GSFE
GSFES is proud to participate in the district’s Rise with Reading initiative, which encourages students to develop a love of reading and improve literacy skills. Students can start by asking Ms. Brown, our school librarian, for book recommendations tailored to their interests and reading level.
To date, our students and staff have read over 700,000 pages of our 1 million page goal!
Parents can support reading at home and help our school reach our 1 million page goal in Beanstack by:
-
Setting aside daily reading time: Even 15–20 minutes a day counts!
-
Reading together: Take turns reading aloud or discuss your child’s favorite parts of the story.
-
Celebrating progress: Praise milestones and encourage continued reading.
-
Logging reading in Beanstack: Make sure each page your child reads is recorded to contribute to our school goal.
-
Making reading fun: Let your child choose books that interest them—variety keeps them engaged.
Every student and staff member working together helps GSFES get closer to our 1 million page goal!
GSFE Greatness: Manners Day Lunch
Next week, our students will participate in our Manners Day Lunch! We’ve been practicing our manners in preparation for this special celebration. Students will enjoy a simulated restaurant dining experience where they can apply what they’ve learned—using polite language, practicing table manners, ordering respectfully, and showing courtesy to others.
We encourage families to ask your child what manners they’ve been learning and to practice them together at home during family meals. This is a wonderful way to reinforce these important life skills beyond the classroom.
A big thank you to our PTO for generously sponsoring this event and supporting such a meaningful and engaging experience for our students. We’re excited to see our students put their manners into action next week!
GSFE Service: CMC Sock Drive
Our Winter Sock Drive benefiting Conway Medical Center has been a great success! This project reflects GSFE’s vision of service and is part of our service learning efforts, which focuses on teaching students the importance of giving back to their community while developing empathy, responsibility, and citizenship.
The goal of service learning is to help students connect what they learn in school to real-world needs, empowering them to make a positive difference by helping others.
Through this experience, our students are learning that even small acts of kindness—like donating socks—can have a big impact.
GSFE Service: Kids Heart Challenge
Our annual Kids Heart Challenge is back, running February 9–27! This year, our goal is to raise $5,000 to support heart health and wellness.
Registration is free, and so is Finn’s Mission—a fun way for students and staff to get moving while giving back. Everyone who completes Finn’s Mission will earn a superhero cape and a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LXI in 2027!
Plus, for every 18 participants who complete Finn’s Mission, our school will be entered to win a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover. It’s a fun, healthy way for our GSFES family to serve our community while staying active!
GSFE Family: Grits with Grandparents
In January, we hosted our Second Annual Grits with Grandparents event and had an amazing turnout! It was wonderful to see so many grandparents and special friends joining our GSFES family for a morning of good food, laughter, and connection. Events like this truly reflect our vision of celebrating family and strengthening our school community, showing that learning and memories happen best when families are involved. We’re already looking forward to next year!

GSFE Family: House Standings
We celebrated our students’ accomplishments at the mid-year House Meeting! Students had the opportunity to earn badges for Perfect Attendance, Behavior, Student of the Week, All A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, Reading Achievement, Reading Growth, Math Achievement, and House Points. Team Isibindi took the lead and celebrated with a sock hop! We are so proud of all our students—keep encouraging them to work hard each day as they earn their way toward the final reward: the Family Kingdom field trip.

Fine Arts Focus: Library with Ms. Brown
We are having the best year in Library! We just wrapped up our second Book Fair, and we want to thank everyone who supported our Library. Before the excitement of the Book Fair, we were hoping for snow, and we enjoyed reading snowy stories - like Wilson Bentley's biography, Snowflake Bentley, and Froggy Builds a Snowman! We painted snowflakes and collaborated to make large wooden snowflakes.
All grades have also been working on Digital Citizenship lessons that focus on being safe and responsible online and respecting the work of others. Kindergarten and first grade students learned about how technology helps us and how to tell if a website or app is just right for us. Second graders researched animals and gave credit to the author of the book they read. Third and fourth graders reflected on their screen time and learned about a healthy media balance. Fifth graders learned that their actions online can have a ripple effect and reflected on how different choices can affect them and others.
