Grade 2 Updates

In Grade 2, students learn addition and subtraction by using place value to understand numbers as tens and ones. They practice breaking apart numbers, regrouping, and using strategies such as adding or subtracting tens and ones to solve problems efficiently. By using tools like base-ten blocks, number lines, and drawings, students build a deeper understanding of how numbers work and develop confidence in solving addition and subtraction problems.

Kindergarten Updates

In Kindergarten, students using the pre-FSLP focus on building early learning skills that prepare them for reading and writing. Children practice recognizing letters, learning letter sounds, and building phonological awareness through songs, games, and hands-on activities. They also develop listening skills, fine motor skills, and early number sense, helping them grow in confidence as learners while building a strong foundation for future academic success.

Noelle’s (Grade 3) favorite thing about school is learning new things and learning about fossils. She loves to be out in nature especially in the summer. She enjoys arts and crafts and spending time with her pets, a dog named Penelope, a gecko, 2 birds, and a kitten named Winston. Her favorite color is purple.

BUILD Boston Program at RHS BUILD Boston Program at RHS

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to our BUILD entrepreneurship students for the successful production, launch, and marketing survey of their student created products. This event represented a major milestone in their entrepreneurial journey and showcased the hard work, creativity, and discipline they have developed throughout the program.

Students were responsible for designing their products, preparing for production, launching to a live audience, and conducting real time marketing surveys. Even more impressive, they confidently engaged peers and staff, gathered instant feedback, and reflected on how customer responses can influence product improvement and future decision making. This is exactly what real entrepreneurship looks like learning by doing.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Licorish and the RHS administration staff for their continued support of student innovation and experiential learning. Your leadership creates the space for programs like Build to thrive.

We are also deeply grateful to Build Boston and their Coaches for ongoing partnership and commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs with real world business experiences.

Finally, a special shout out to Shannon for generously supplying the products that made this hands-on learning experience possible. Your support helped bring student ideas to life in a meaningful way.

We are incredibly proud of our students and excited to see how they continue to grow as young business leaders.

Thanks to all!

Mr. White, Teacher, BUILD Boston Program at RHS

Randolph Pride on the Big Stage!

We are thrilled to celebrate two outstanding seniors from Randolph Public Schools who earned Boston Globe honors—a powerful reflection of talent, discipline, and leadership both on and off the field.

Mekhi White | Division 8, Senior
A four-year starter, Mekhi helped lead Randolph to Super Bowl titles as a freshman and senior. This fall, he recorded 1,409 rushing yards, 36 total touchdowns, plus 15 pass breakups and 4 interceptions. A two-time All-State selection, Mekhi will continue his athletic journey running track at University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Alin Norisca | Senior
A high-honors student and versatile leader, Alin tallied 910 all-purpose yards, 57 tackles, 8 sacks, kicked a program-record 43-yard field goal, and made 41 extra points during a 12–0 season and Randolph’s second Super Bowl title. He will play next at the University of Rhode Island.

These recognitions from the Boston Globe highlight the excellence growing within Randolph Public Schools. Congratulations to Mekhi and Alin—and thank you for representing Randolph with pride!

Big Congratulations to Coach Jonathan Marshall!

Coach Marshall has been named Coach of the Year for Division 8 by the Boston Globe, recognizing his incredible leadership and impact on the shoulder of Randolph High School’s football program!

Under his guidance, the Randolph Blue Devils have become a true powerhouse: a 12-0 undefeated season, a South Shore–Tobin League title, and most importantly, a second Division 8 State Championship with a dominant 21–0 Super Bowl win this season!

Earlier this fall, Coach Marshall also was named New England Patriots Coach of the Week after leading Randolph to a strong start and instilling grit and pride in his team.

A Marine Corps Veteran with a 37–21 record over eight seasons, Coach Marshall has built a culture of discipline, resilience, and excellence that has transformed Randolph football into a perennial contender.

Please join us in celebrating Coach Marshall for these amazing honors and for the lasting impact he has on our student-athletes and community!

RCMS Band and Chorus Concert

The RCMS Band and Chorus, under the direction of Elias Condakes and Kevin Martins, delivered a truly wonderful Winter Concert the night of December 17, 2025! We were excited to celebrate the debut of the RCMS Madrigals (our honors choir), enjoy a special cameo by Mr. R.C. as a Grumpy Elf narrating a festive winter selection with the 8th Grade Band, and witness outstanding professionalism from all students—both on stage and as a respectful, supportive audience. Humanities Department Updates

Our kindergarten teachers and reading specialists recently participated in a dedicated professional learning session focused on strategies for enhancing the teaching of phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is the foundational ability to identify and manipulate individual sounds—or phonemes—in spoken words. It is a critical precursor to literacy because, before students can link letters to sounds (phonics), they must first be able to hear and isolate those sounds. Research consistently shows that a strong grasp of phonemic awareness is the single best predictor of future reading success. By honing these skills, our educators are ensuring every student has the essential building blocks needed to become a confident, fluent reader.

Pictured above on the right are two reading specialists from Donovan Elementary School practicing instruction around phonemic awareness.

Mathematics Updates

Our 1st grade mathematicians at the Young School participated in a “Math In Action” activity from the new iReady Math curriculum. Scholars applied skills from the unit to solve real-world problems related to creating a camp at school. Problems involved planning three camp activity groups, assigning campers to groups, and using class data about the groups to make and analyze data displays.
