Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have a few important reminders and updates to share with you:
Lost and Found Reminder
Our Lost and Found table is filling up! All unclaimed items will be donated on December 23. Please encourage your student to stop by the Lost and Found table on Monday or Tuesday next week to check for any missing belongings.
Arrival Procedures Outside Normal Start Time
For student safety, parents/guardians must walk their student to the door when arriving outside of the normal school start time. Please ring the bell and provide your student’s name to the office staff.
-
Students listed in Pickup Patrol will be permitted to enter the building to sign themselves in after their name is confirmed.
-
If your student is not listed in Pickup Patrol, you will need to sign them in on the blue clipboard located inside the foyer, and your student will then proceed to the office to sign themselves in electronically.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized arrival process.

Learning with Mrs. Martin
Mrs. Martin was back in the classroom this past week working with our Grade 5 and 6 students, teaching a lesson focused on self-reflection, emotional awareness, and letting go of stressors that can impact learning. Students were highly engaged and participated in thoughtful discussions, making personal connections and sharing strategies to help them stay focused, positive, and ready to learn. It was a meaningful experience that encouraged students to reflect on what they carry with them each day and how to best support their own well-being.
WCS Student Leadership Team
Mrs. Martin’s Leadership Team held their first meeting this past week. Students engaged in meaningful discussions and shared thoughtful ideas for upcoming school assemblies and PBIS initiatives. They also explored leadership roles connected to the student newsletter, discussing how students can help share school news and highlight positive events within our community.
WCS Chorus
Congratulations to the WCS Select Choir on their outstanding performance this week! The students demonstrated excellence and professionalism. I am so proud of the way they blended their voices, sang with dynamics, and created magic on stage by singing with so much heart.
Chorus will start up again on Thursday, February 5th, 2026!
We will perform another concert in the Spring on Thursday, May 7th!

Unified Arts-Grade 6 Music
Mrs. Fothergill’s music classes spread holiday cheer by playing their ukuleles throughout the building. Their festive music brought smiles to students and staff and helped create a joyful holiday atmosphere at WCS.
Project Joy
Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Herard had a great time working with students during their recess to create cards for Project Joy!
Turtle up for Adoption
As many of you heard, earlier this year, Mrs. Pratte had to separate her two turtles, Darwin and Rosalind. Now that Rosalind has reached maturity, she needs to be the only turtle in the tank.
We had someone lined up to adopt Rosalind, an eastern painted turtle about 12 years old, but unfortunately, the adoption fell through.
If anyone is interested in adopting this turtle as a pet for your family, please reach out to Mrs. Pratte at ppratte@windhamsd.org for more information and details. She makes a great last-minute Christmas gift!
6th Grade Holiday Day — Lights, Cocoa, Action! ❄️🎬
The 6th grade team is gearing up for a snow-spectacular Holiday Day this Tuesday, and we couldn’t be more excited! Think Winter Olympics meets math fun… with a cozy movie ending.
What’s on the agenda?
⛷️ Winter Olympics in the morning
➗ A festive morning of hands-on math activities
☕ Hot chocolate and a holiday movie in the afternoon (cue the popcorn vibes, Home Alone energy, minus the traps!)
🎟️ Important reminder for families:
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to complete the digital permission slip for your child. This is your child’s official “ticket to the show,” and unfortunately, students cannot participate without it. No slip = no sequel 😬
We can’t wait to celebrate with a day full of movement, learning, laughs, and holiday cheer. It’s shaping up to be one of those days students will remember long after the credits roll!
Thank you for your help making this a fun and safe day for everyone, let’s make it a blockbuster! 🎥✨
Free and Reduced Meal Options
We want to remind families that applications for free or reduced price meals are available for any family who wishes to apply. Applications are sent to each household at the beginning of the school year and are available throughout the year at each school cafeteria, at the SAU office, and online.
