STM SCOOP

October 26 to 30, 2026

STM SCOOPOctober 26 to 30, 2026

Have a great last week of October!

Hello families,

We will be having our first round of student-led conferences on Thursday, November 5th from 12:50pm - 4:00pm and then 4:40pm - 7:00pm. It is extremely valuable when the parents/guardians are directly involved in their junior high student's schooling and we strongly encourage you to bring your child with you to the conference. Here is the LINK to book your appointment. The event code is y77ae . The appointments are ten minute meetings all in the gym. It is based on a first come first serve basis.

As halloween approaches, we look forward to our students dressing up on Friday, October 30th. Many of our students will wear their costumes for the halloween dance, and some will switch to other clothes during lunch. We ask that students do not wear masks because they can hinder a child’s peripheral vision, making them dangerous. Hypoallergenic, non-toxic makeup is preferred. Parents and students also need to be aware that costumes should never be ‘threatening’ and that includes costumes that incorporate replica weapons. Replica weapons are never allowed at school.

The weather is changing fast and we are clearly moving towards winter! A reminder that the school doors will not be open until 8am and all students will be spending their lunch breaks outside for 20 minutes after lunch. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Mark your calendar and please plan to join us for our next School Council meeting on Monday, November 2nd, 2026 @ 6:30pm.

If you haven't yet, please complete your student verification. The poster is below.

God Bless,

Kevin Myskiw

The Mass Revealed: Understand. Celebrate. Participate.

Why do Catholics go to Mass? What is the Eucharist? Why do we stand, kneel, and sing?

A new video series and companion learning guide are now available to help students and families learn about the different elements that make up a Catholic Mass.

Created in partnership with the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton, Edmonton Catholic Schools, and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools, The Mass Revealed features 16 short videos that provide information on the prayers, symbols, gestures, sacred spaces, objects, and traditions of the Catholic Mass.

We invite families to watch the videos together, talk about what they learn, and then experience Mass with a deeper understanding by actively participating in its celebration.

Stay Home When Sick

We want to remind families that students learn best when they feel their best. If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home to rest and recover. This helps maintain a healthy learning environment for everyone. If your child needs to miss school due to illness, please submit an absence through SchoolMessenger or contact our office. Our teachers and staff are here to support your child’s learning and can provide catch-up plans or resources to help them stay on track.
