Mill Valley Weekly
March 12th, 2026
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Even though we recently enjoyed a brief glimpse of spring, winter isn't quite finished with us yet! The forecast for next week calls for snow and temperatures dropping back into the 20s and 30s.
Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. We greatly appreciate your help in reminding them to bring their winter coats, hats, and gloves so they can stay warm during recess.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
In Partnership,
Allyce Harris
MV Principal
Soon, we will begin to look at class placement for our students next year. Teacher teams will begin to plan for 2026-27 class rosters in April and May. When preparing classroom placements for next year, our staff carefully considers the match of student and teacher and the blend of students within a room. A process is used so that classrooms of the same grade are heterogeneous and balanced academically and socially. As we begin to construct class lists for next year, Mill Valley staff will consider many factors including parent/guardian input on learning needs and styles.
We appreciate input from parents as we begin this process and encourage you to fill out the Student Profile Survey. This form will only be available until Friday, March 27th.
Please note that in order to make balanced class lists, we cannot accept teacher requests nor assume your family will have the same teacher you may have worked with previously.

GOOD LUCK to four Destination Imagination Teams from Mill Valley!
On Saturday, March 14th, four teams from Mill Valley will compete in a Destination Imagination Competition at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown. These four teams of students have been meeting since November to create solutions to all the directions for each of their problems. Each of the teams will present a skit with several different requirements depending on the problem. The teams range in grades from first through fourth grade with 5-7 students on a team. Third and fourth grade teams receive scores to be ranked and can move on to another competition. All the teams have been working hard and we wish them the best of luck at the competition. Also a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the coaches for their support in managing their teams. Here are the teams:
Dear 3rd & 4th Grade Families,
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring your student’s success during test days. Testing will occur in the morning. Please refrain from scheduling any appointments (doctor, dentist, orthodontist, etc.) during testing times. Ensure your student(s) get adequate sleep, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Notify your child’s teacher as soon as possible if your child will be absent during the testing window.
From Monday, April 13 to April 17, specials and lunch schedules will be adjusted to provide an uninterrupted morning testing window.
For further questions, please contact your child’s teacher or Allyce Harris.
Thank you in advance!
If you have a pre-planned absence that coflicts with any testing days, please
inform your child's teacher immediately to allow for proper planning! THANK YOU!

A Note from the Library...
We have been busy in the library over the last month learning all about the Olympics and Paralympics! We have looked not only at the events, but the Olympians and Paralympians themselves, and the locations where they are competing! Here are some of the books we have been reading and engaging with to introduce these topics!
Human Growth & Development 2026
Dear Parents,
Each year, students in kindergarten through fourth grade receive instruction in human growth and development. We recognize that you too are providing one-on-one instruction related to your child’s human development and find it a privilege to partner with you in this endeavor. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of this up-and-coming instruction and to afford you multiple opportunities where you can learn more about the content of these lessons as well as to view the accompanying resources we will be using.
The lessons developed are the result of the efforts of our district’s human growth and development instructional team with the oversight and input of the district’s human growth and development advisory committee.
On the back of this letter, you will find an outline. If you would like to review the materials used for these lessons, you can do so by selecting one of the two options listed on the next page.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself, if you have any additional questions. If you prefer your son/daughter not receive instruction in one of the lessons listed, please contact your child’s teacher in advance so that another accommodation can be made when the lesson is taught.
Sincerely,
Allyce Harris
