OLVCS Updates

Tomorrow we have a Dollar Dress Down Day for the Annunciation Hope and Healing Fund.

https://www.ccf-mn.org/annunciation-hope-and-healing-fund/

• Students are to bring a dollar (or more) for their dress down day. Please note this is a suggestion, not a requirement. All funds will be sent to the Annunciation Hope and Healing Fund.

STAR assessments, our benchmark testing for all students, have started. We will discuss STAR testing and how we use results as part of the October Parent Meeting. This leads to a very important reminder to please arrive on time to school.

The school day officially starts at 8:00 with morning announcements and prayers. However, prior to the announcements, students unpack, order lunch, see friends, complete morning work, write assignments and settle into the day. Arriving at 8:00 might technically ‘be on time’ but the rush is hard on everyone, especially the students. By 8:05 all are seated and working. I understand the morning scramble, with four children we had our moments of running out the door, and we walked to school! Aiming for 7:50 sets your child up for success each day.

Dismissal changes:

• Use the yellow dismissal slips for any changes in your child’s normal plan.

• Day of changes, email or call Mrs. Cawley ((not the teacher, they are not always able to check email) Mrs. Cawley calls in to each classroom at the end of the day with changes.

Walk-A-Thon is fast approaching! Next week we have the Coin Drive, send in all that loose change.

• Each school family is asked to raise a minimum of $200 in contributions.

• We are dedicated to reaching 100% family participation.

• Additional information below.

Thank you to all parents who helped with the Bald Eagle MS Field Trip. It was an awesome day, the Park Rangers commented on our students behavior and intelligence, how great both were! Thank you teachers and families for that!

Make it a great day!

• "Walk-A-Thon is a great way to increase support and help for our Athletic teams. Transportation to games, uniforms, facilities are all contributed through donations for Walk-A-Thon."
• "Walk-A-Thon is an event that not only provides us with the curriculum materials and supplies that we need to teach, but it allows the preschool kids to feel like they are doing the same as the big kids and it makes them feel proud."
• "My classroom really benefits from the Walk-A-Thon donations. Many things in my classroom have been purchased with money from these donations. Past years donations have allowed our school to purchase the technology for our school, items like ipads, and chromebooks for each student. As well as online subscriptions that we use in class, IXL, Spelling Stars, and Schoology."
• "The Walk-A-Thon shows our students the power of community and service when they see friends, families, parishioners, and community members coming together in support of our school and Catholic education. They get to witness first hand the impact that the donations have on them as a student with field trips, technology, classroom supplies, and so much more."

• Walk-A-Thon is our school's only all-school fundraiser and raises crucial funds for preschool through 8th grade school programs and activities.
• Each school family is asked to raise a minimum of $200 in contributions.

• We are dedicated to reaching 100% family participation.
• There are many exciting student, homeroom, and family prizes this year! Check out the chart to see all of the amazing family donation incentives.
• The homerooms that get to 100% participation the fastest will receive an all-class party!
