Hello Frog Pond Family!

To close out the month of February, our students and families set a new Frog Pond School record for the most money raised during the American Heart Challenge!

As a school, we raised $34,219 !!!! This is AMAZING!!!

Now, March is here and there are already signs of spring in the air and days are getting longer! We are looking to the future here at the Frog Pond School. Our after school programs are still in full swing and keeping everyone busy! We will also be having two early dismissal days on March 27th and 28th. Wednesday, March 27th will be evening parent/teacher conferences.

In the classroom the students are working hard and having fun. Note that trimester 2 will be ending on March 15th. Please note that OnCourse will not be available from March 15th - March 26th. Report cards will be available for parents to view on March 27th. If you have not logged in to OnCourse or have questions about logging in, please contact the main office for assistance. This is the best way to stay up to date on your student’s grades and attendance. You can also view emergency contact information for your child and send an update request if necessary.

Wishing you all a wonderful start of spring!

Sincerely,

Thomas P. Denning

The terrapins in Mrs. Arnold’s 6th grade classroom are doing very well! They are thriving as they spend time being fostered for Project Terrapin. The turtles are identified by the distinguishing characteristics on their shells, not by name. One of the turtles has increased his weight by 8 times since its arrival and the other has increased its weight by 5 times!

Mrs. Covone and Mahan's class, along with some help from Mr. Bochicchio and Mr. Klement's classes put together some treats for our friends at Seacrest Village! Each child designed a bag with a Valentine theme, then some of us got together at lunch to stuff them with goodies such as tissues, puzzle books, games, and other fun items. We hope it made their Valentine's day a little extra special!

In STEAM for the month of February the 6th graders finished their financial literacy unit learning how to save for a goal. The 5th graders wrapped up solving a crime scene acting like a CSI unit. The students measured, sketched, and looked closer into the evidence to discover the perpetrator. The younger grades are working on a stop motion animation project using Google slides. All grades are exploring the Star Lab with the help of Mrs. Arnold.

All sixth grade students participated in a workshop led by Mrs. Gallagher on using EBSCOHost, (an online database from the Ocean County Library) creating a works cited page, and learning strategies to avoid plagiarism. We also had many sixth grade students apply and receive their first library cards!

🧹 Cleaning with the Klement's Crew 🧹 🧹 Cleaning with the Klement's Crew 🧹

Mrs. Klements' class loves Frog Pond! They also love to keep their classroom clean!! The students decided that they wanted to create a cleaning committee to help keep the hallways clean. They presented their ideas and wrote letters to Mr. Denning and Mr. Nazarok asking for permission to give up their recess every Friday to help keep the school clean! They would love to spread the word that it is important to be respectful of your school community and this means to throw trash in the garbage, not on the floor!

Kawka/Skerrat's Social Studies lessons invited students to research a prominent figure in Black History and complete a #histogram summary with facts, images, and technology.
