Eagle Update
Archer Glen Elementary | December 11, 2025
A Message from Principal Woofter
What a soggy first part of the week we had! Fortunately, we have had a few days to dry out a little before the rain returns.
Last night, our 4th/5th Grade Choir performed an incredible concert of seasonal songs! They have been working hard on their performances and sounded amazing. Thanks to Mrs. Brannan and her pianist, Mr. O'Hara, for fostering this musical talent and coordinating this opportunity to allow our students to shine!
A shout out to the FLL robotics team ("Lego Wizards") from Sherwood composed of present and past students from Archer Glen. The team competed in the preliminary First Lego League Challenge Qualifier tournament at Jesuit High School on December 6, 2025 and achieved outstanding results. The team won the "Best Innovation Project" award and advanced to the State-level competition happening in January. After months of preparation, they excelled in robot coding challenges and presented an innovative "Smart Drone" prototype designed to help archeologists identify dig sites without excavation. Despite being a rookie team, the Lego Wizards demonstrated a strong performance across all four competition categories: Robot Design, Robot Game, Innovation Project, and Core Values. Congratulations to the "Lego Wizards" on this impressive achievement - current AG fourth graders Pranav, Dylan, and Misa and former AG students and current SMS students Prakrithi, Meika and Mark!
We have had a fun start to our Countdown to Winter Break! The students and staff have truly embraced all the ways to celebrate this winter season. The calendar is below as a reminder of our themes for next week if students should choose to participate. Most classes are planning their holiday parties on Thursday and we will conclude the week with an all-school sing-a-long on Friday afternoon. It will be a fantastic way to send everyone off on winter break!
One important reminder, during drop off and pick up, there is no left turn from our parking lot onto Sunset. This backs up the traffic flow within the parking lot and onto Sunset, especially during these months when it is cold and dark. Thank you for your cooperation!
Looking forward to a fabulous week of learning and fun as we close out 2025!
Kindly,
Sarah

Calling all Carnival Volunteers!
The Archer Glen Carnival is a wonderful, family-friendly event hosted by the Archer Glen PAC and supported by many amazing school volunteers. It’s a big labor of love — and it truly takes a team to make it happen! This year the Carnival is scheduled for Friday, April 24th with set up happening the day prior April 23rd.
The carnival is organized by one or more Carnival Leads and divided into several committees to help share the workload. Committees meet during our once-a-month carnival planning meetings or communicate through email or text to coordinate tasks.
Our first official Carnival Meeting will be held on January 8th at 2:30 PM, which will take place in lieu of the regular PAC meeting.
Please indicate which committee(s) you’re interested in joining this year by completing this form. Your time, support, and enthusiasm make this event possible—and so appreciated!

Sherwood School District Meal Program
All students who qualify for Oregon SNAP, FDPIR or Oregon TANF automatically receive free breakfast and lunch every school day through our district meal program. Foster children and children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway or migrant are eligible for no cost meals. Please email nutrition@sherwood.k12.or.us for more information.
Families can apply for the district meal program by completing an online application or by submitting a paper application at your student’s school. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out at nutrition@sherwood.k12.or.us. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
Volunteers
The District will be welcoming volunteers back into our school buildings this year. All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.
HelpCounter Volunteer Information
Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).
ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!
You can find out more information about how to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen using HelpCounter by visiting Archer Glen PAC's Instagram handle here.
