Week 2: ✅ Week 2: ✅

These Tigers and their teachers rocked out another great week here at Smithton. We began our beginning of the year testing, enjoyed the cooler weather at recess, and slowly worked on getting into a true classroom routine. I think it's safe to say everyone went home tired on Friday.

For the month of September we will recognize Respectful students. If your child does something that stands out to you as respectful we'd love to hear about it and share it with our entire Elementary at our morning zoom meeting. Message Ms. Dana or myself on the Rooms app or send us an email so we can celebrate the good stuff!

Remember we are not in session tomorrow, Monday, September 1st!

This. Is. What. It's. All. About!!!! This. Is. What. It's. All. About!!!!

ALL THE THINGS ALL THE THINGS

As we begin the 25-26 school year I just want to remind you of a few of our procedures and expectations so we are all on the same page. These are a repeat of last week, with a few additions.

If you are sending in lunch money, fundraiser funds, Smithton youth sports forms, etc. please put your child's name on it and what the money is for! We want to make sure we get those funds applied to the correct location.

Friday Folders will come home on Friday's that your child has notes, graded work, or important documents. We ask that you look for the Friday folder as we want to streamline information coming home. We will do our best to hold on to all important papers and send those in that folder. We ask you return the folder on Tuesday. Our k-4 kids do a pretty good job with this, now those 5th and 6th graders may need some extra encouragement. 🙃

As a four day school week our doors will now open at 7:25 with the tardy bell ringing at 7:45. Students eating breakfast should plan to arrive in plenty of time to eat. If your child does not eat breakfast they report directly to their classroom as we no longer meet in the gym. Parents as we enter the third week of school, if you are escorting your little one inside please don't exceed the foyer. We have adults on watch to make sure all of our kiddos get where they need to be. This is necessary as we need to establish our routines.

Dismissal begins for the Elementary at 3:10 with our final dismissal bell ringing at 3:20. We encourage end of the day transportation to remain as consistent as possible for the safety of our students. We understand things come up and alternate arrangements sometimes must be made. If that is the case we ask that you contact the elementary office with those changes by 2:30.

Again, I would like to encourage a consistent end of the day plan if at all possible. Also, please understand we simply can not take the word of a student regarding their end of the day routine.

If your child is a car rider please stay in your vehicle and follow the procedures we have in place. We will load 4 vehicles at a time and then dismiss all four at the same time. We realize the routine was a bit long the first few days however, it will become more efficient as we learn the vehicles. Additionally, your child should have brought home a name paper to put on the dash of your car to help us move you through the line faster. If you need to buckle car seats please pull forward to the no parking zone.

Smithton has a district wide Facebook page and an Elementary page. We encourage you to follow those to stay up to date on our happenings. Below is the link to both pages. The Elementary page will provide you insight into the learning and fun taking place in our building and keep you updated on Elementary specific events.

Additionally, Smithton communicates through the Rooms app. If you don't have the Smithton R6 app, please download it and more information will come regarding enrollment into the Rooms platform.

Lastly, if you have not completed enrollment please contact the Elementary office to get that taken care of at your earliest convenience. We also need any and all requested documents turned into the office to finalize enrollment.
