A Jubilant Jubilee
Thanks to our hardworking PTO, Fourteenth Street School families were "treated" to a celebration of the season at the Fall Jubilee on October 17th. Students (and some parents and staff!) wore a wide variety of clever, entertaining, and scary costumes and participated in many different activities, including a photo booth, face painting, touch-a-truck, and Halloween-related crafts and games. This year's Fall Jubilee also included a story walk, featuring images from the book Giraffes Can't Dance, designed to promote literacy while having fun. Families who completed a brief survey at the end of the walk will receive a copy of the book, courtesy of a Title I-funded PEAK (Parents and Educators Accelerating Kids) grant.
School Assembly
The first school assembly of the year was held on October 24th. Students entered the cafegymatorium to the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack and sat facing the stage. It was amazing how many students were able to sing along while waiting for everyone to get seated! The assembly began with a review of appropriate behavior in an assembly (which students practiced!) followed by a read aloud of Jacqueline Woodson's The Day You Begin. Weekly RAMS award winners were then selected as were ten lucky winners of a token to use in the book vending machine (L to R: Enoch D., Hazel B., Sawyer B., Wynn M-M., Greta L., Maeve W., Maisie F., Olivia W., Bentley F., Maddie L.). Attendance was celebrated and students exited the cafegymatorium to, fittingly, "Celebration."
Weekly RAMS Award Winners
Every Friday we randomly select a prize winner (one per class) from among the students who received a RAMS award that week for being a responsible worker, acting respectfully, having a mighty positive attitude, and/or staying safe. Selected students get to choose a small toy; read to a class; help Mr. Deane in the hallways, Ms. McCorrison in the office, or Ms. Markee and Ms. Robicheau in the kitchen; eat lunch with a friend; eat lunch with me; announce the weekly RAMS award winners; hang artwork with Ms. Caler, or select a book from the book vending machine.

Gentle Reminders
- As the weather gets colder, please make sure your student has a jacket or coat, hat, and gloves or mittens to wear at school.
- If you need to make a change to your student's after school plan (from bus to pickup or vice versa), please let Ms. McCorrison know as early in the day as possible. Changes requested after 2:45 pm may not be able to be accommodated (although we will certainly try to do so).
- We are once again surveying families regarding their satisfaction with aspects of Fourteenth Street School. If you didn't have a chance to complete the Climate Survey at the Fall Jubilee, it's not too late to express yourself. The survey is linked here and will close on November 26th.
