Dear NPS Community,
April was a busy month in our schools. At the District level we are working on a budget for the 2026-27 school year. For an overview of our presentations to the School Committee, see our Budget website page. Beyond the work that is happening daily in classrooms, we also had a few opportunities to celebrate student excellence and enjoy some playful math fun.
Newburyport High School held their annual National Arts Honors Society and National Honors Society Inductions. We were proud to recognize students for their artistic and academic achievements. It was "Math Month" at the Bresnahan and Molin schools – check out my newest episode of "Around the District" for details, and a surprise visit from a math monster.
With math MCAS on the schedule for May, I asked NPS staff to share some advice for students who are taking the tests (see testing dates below). You can watch the full video below, or by clicking here.
I am looking forward to the month ahead – from AP exams to musical performances to class trips, there is always a lot on the calendar this time of year. See below for some future events.

The 7th Annual Waterfront Festival is coming up soon! Join me at the Newburyport Waterfront on Saturday, May 16th, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm to see our talented K-12 students show off their talents on the stage!
