A note from Principal Ballard
Dear Parents/Guardians
We’ve officially wrapped up Week 3, and I couldn’t be prouder of how our students are settling into the rhythm of the school year. The energy in our classrooms is electric—full of curiosity, laughter, and learning.
Classroom Highlights Teachers have been diving into foundational skills across reading and math. Our younger learners are exploring learning through play, while older grades are beginning exciting center work and exploring story structure. Ask your child what they’ve learned this week—you might be surprised by the enthusiasm in their answer!
Building Community We’ve been focusing on kindness, respect, and responsibility through our school-wide behavior expectations. Students are earning “Owl Bucks” for positive choices, and we celebrate their efforts with shopping at our school store and extra recess.
📝 Reminders Please make sure your child’s emergency contact information is up to date. Also, if your child is feeling unwell, we ask that you keep them home to help keep our school community healthy.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. It’s a joy to watch your children grow each day, and we’re honored to be part of their journey.
Warm regards,
Charity Ballard
Principal
Winchester Avenue Elementary School
Good Choices = Join in on the 9 weeks Reward
As students continue to grow and learn, we use nine weeks incentives to encourage great choices. The first nine weeks reward is a glow party. Students that make good choices, receive "Owl Bucks" and will also have a chance to participate in the glow party. Last year our students had a blast. We hope that families can encourage great choices at home and at school, so students may enjoy these nine weeks rewards.
We will not permit students with challenging behaviors to attend. Struggling students will participate in reteach; staff will reteach the expectations of Winchester Avenue.

Attendance Matters
Check the back of your child's folder, or pocket, when he/she is absent to update the Attendance Tracker. Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.
Regular school attendance matters, but if your student misses school, you can submit your student's absence online using the Parent Absence Note Form
WALKERS
We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
