What Do We Do In Library Class?
Your child comes to library class once during the 6 day cycle for 1 hour. In that hour, We find new books and check them out every time they come to library. The library supports the curriculum in all grades from 3-5 and supports learning about books, the library. I will also be teaching your children how to use books and evaluate information online and in E-books to search for information safely. I also love to bring STEAM into library so that students get the opportunity to design, create, and collaborate with one another. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
The library is a fun place to be and it provides equal access to all students and staff to search for and check out any books from our non-fiction and fiction text collection, and electronic e-books from Sora by Overdrive at https://soraapp.com/library/masslibma.
The library also provides many resources to the students including World Almanac Kids online and the entire state databases from MA Library Systems (Encyclopedia Britannica and Kids Infobits, etc). You can find them by clicking on my website link at the bottom of this newsletter.

Rising 4th to 5th grade students and rising 5th to 6th grade students have a summer reading packet with a list of books to choose from the MA Children's Book Award Winners. You choose one book to read from the list and there will be an assignment you will complete from the packet. All books are available at the Amesbury Public Library and on Sora and Libby.
Learning in the library is fun!
Meet Mrs. MacIntire
I have been at CES for 15 1/2 years and in the library for 10 years. I live in Amesbury with my husband and 2 children. My daughter is a sophomore at UNH and my son is a 12th grader at AHS. I also attended CES and graduated from the Cashman school in the 5th grade. I read my very first book on the library floor at CES. I am also a graduate of AHS. I spent a brief time overseas living in Tehran, Iran in the first grade and I spent 8th grade, and Freshman year of high school in Seoul, Korea. I always come back to Amesbury though. I feel connected to this community. One of my favorite things to do is travel. In the past six years, I have been lucky enough to travel to Tokyo and London, and Wales!
I am a licensed elementary teacher and a licensed school library media specialist. I received my Post Graduate Certificate at Simmons College in Library Media/School Librarianship.
I hold a Masters in Elementary Education and current Licensures in Elementary Education and School Library Teacher K-12.
