A Message From Your Principal
Greetings from Eames Way!
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for making our 2nd Annual Fun Run such a fantastic success! Your generous donations, enthusiastic support, and overall spirit made it an unforgettable day for our entire school community. A huge, special shout-out goes to our incredible PTO for their endless hard work in coordinating and running this great event—and especially for helping a few lucky students turn me into a human Ice Cream Sundae! We are deeply grateful for everything our families contribute to make our school such a vibrant and supportive place.
Additionally, please be sure to check your child’s backpack this week for their fall math and literacy assessment results in grades 1 through 5. At the start of the year, students complete these fall assessments just as they are beginning to receive instruction in their new grade level. Because students have had very little grade-level instruction at the time of the assessment, we do not expect them to start the year placing on grade level. The expectation is that most students will start the year demonstrating knowledge from their previous grade level, since that is the material they completed most recently. Once these results are analyzed, our teachers will provide targeted lessons directly aligned to specific areas of focus to support students right where they are. At the start of the new calendar year, students will take their middle-of-year assessment, which will generate a growth report that we look forward to sharing with you.
Thank you again for your continued partnership and support!
Ms. Bishop
Principal

Nurse Update
It’s that time of year again! Our Annual Student Health Screenings will begin soon. These screenings are a vital part of ensuring your child’s health and success at school.
Depending on your child’s grade, the following health screenings will be done:
Vision Screening (All grades)
Hearing Screening (Grades K, 1, 2, and 3)
Height & Weight (Grades 1 and 4)
Scoliosis Screening (Grade 5 only) *This will be done in the spring and 5th grade parents/guardians will get written notification before the scheduled screenings*
What You Need to Do:
No action is required unless you wish to opt out of a screening.
If you prefer your child not be screened, please send a written note or email to the nurse before October 19, 2026.
Make sure your child brings or wears glasses or hearing aids, if needed.
Results & Follow-Up:
If any concerns are found, you’ll receive a referral letter with recommended next steps.
Most screenings are quick and non-invasive, and results are confidential.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s health and learning. Regular screenings help us catch small issues before they become bigger ones. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to Alison White, School Nurse 781-834-5090x 44500 or awhite@mpsd.org.

EWS Front Office FAQ Overview
The following is an EWS Front Office Frequently Asked Questions Overview. We encourage all families to please read it carefully and save it for future reference. We hope this is a useful resource throughout the school year! If you have any additional questions or if we missed any helpful information, please email us at Diane Gillet (dgillet@mpsd.org) or Karen Admirand (kadmirand@mpsd.org). We're looking forward to a wonderful school year!
PickUp Patrol Reminder
EWS uses PickUp Patrol, a free online application, to manage attendance and dismissal plans efficiently and accurately. It eliminates the need to call, email, or write notes. Families conveniently use PickUp Patrol to notify EWS if your student will be absent, arriving late, leaving early, or with end-of-day dismissal plan changes. Teachers receive an email in the morning with attendance updates and a personalized email in the afternoon with dismissal plans for their classroom.
To kick-off the school year, all families need to 1) read the EWS PickUp Patrol Overview for important information and helpful instructions and 2) review their student's "default" plan (normal dismissal routine) to confirm it is correct. Additionally, new families will receive a welcome registration email directly from PickUp Patrol and need to register ASAP.
If you have additional questions, please review the PUP Parent Guide, which is provided by PickUp Patrol. If you still need help, contact the EWS Front Office (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org) or PickUp Patrol (support@pickuppatrol.net). Thanks for supporting PickUp Patrol!
Bus Transportation Update
Please note that Bus times will become more predictable after the first few weeks of school! Please be patient as bus routes settle into a routine. Families can help by being on time, visible, and getting students on/off the bus quickly and efficiently. For questions regarding bus stop and routes, please contact transportation@mpsd.org.
As a friendly reminder to all families and students, NO FOOD OR DRINK should be consumed while students ride the bus to ensure student safety as well as cleanliness. Thank you for your collaboration and understanding!
