FAPS #WeAreFenton Community Update
November 24th, 2025
The Month of Giving Thanks!
Dear Parents and Families,
As we conclude November, our focus turns toward reflection and gratitude. This month, students have engaged in activities that encourage them to notice the positive moments in their day, appreciate the people around them, and understand the importance of giving thanks in meaningful, everyday ways.
As we spend time with family and friends this Thanksgiving, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what we’re grateful for and acknowledge the people who bring joy and support into our lives. We encourage you to review our PAWS4THANKSGIVING pledge as a reminder to stay present and connected during the holiday season.
Wishing you a peaceful, healthy, and rejuvenating Thanksgiving break.
Sincerely,
Dr. Douglas Busch
Superintendent

School Cancellations & Communications
Test Alert Call Completed
With the colder weather season upon us, it's that time of year when we start preparing for possible inclement weather and the possibility of school cancellation. Please take time to plan for what you and your family will do in the event we have to cancel school.
The process used to consider weather cancellations is below:
- The district, in conjunction with the transportation department, operations department, law enforcement and local road commissions monitor the weather.
- Fenton collaborates with other area superintendents to make decisions based on the road conditions for our area currently and/or in the near future.
- The district will notify designated individuals in the event of a school closure to then disseminate information as quickly as possible.
- Families can check: the district website, messaging through our FAPS app to phones in the form of voice, text message, email message, district Facebook, and news stations (ABC 12, WNEM 5, NBC 25, Detroit Fox2).
When the weather breaks and road conditions are in question, remember to leave early and drive slowly.
Please note that we completed a test call of our alert system on Saturday, November 22, 2025. No action was required on your part. However, if you did not receive the call, please ensure that your contact information is current with the school office so the district can provide timely and accurate communications.
Don’t forget to visit our website and download the “Fenton Area PS” Mobile App. This will be our primary way of keeping you informed, both with regular updates and in the event of an emergency.
