Early Learning Center
August 2026
Important Reminder:
Labor Day is Monday, September 7th! NO SCHOOL!
Please ensure that your child always has an extra set of clothing at school.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Our first Policy Council and Parent Center Committee meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on August 25th . Our Parent Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.! Topics will include Preschool Curriculum and Transportation Safety. Ms. Bailey and Ms. Edwards' classes will perform! Please make plans to attend!
September is Grandparent's Month at the ELC! Our Grandparent's Event will be held on September 11th, at 9 a.m.
Welcome to Preschool!!!
We look forward to a safe and healthy year! Please be patient and understanding as things may change. Keeping children and staff safe is our NUMBER ONE priority.
Car riders must use the car rider line from 7:15 a.m.-7:45a.m. Do not park and walk up. The amount of traffic that we see in the mornings just makes it unsafe for you to walk your child up the sidewalk. After 7:45 a.m., your child is tardy. At that time, you will need to park in the parking lot and walk your child in.
Chronic tardies, early pickups, and absences will be addressed by family service staff. "Chronic" is defined as more than 2 per month.
Please call the school anytime your child will be absent.
Please sign up for DoJo! This is how your child's teacher and Family Advocate will be communicating with you!
Outside food is not allowed in the ELC.
Remember, as a safety precaution, parents WILL NOT be allowed in the school building without a scheduled appointment, parent activity, or to volunteer.
Please do not allow your child to bring in jewelry or toys, unless specifically requested by the teacher--such as "Show and Tell".
Your child must ride in an appropriate car seat to and from school!
Car Seat Safety Week is September 20th-26th! Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians Carrie Brown and Lt. Wanda Holsey will be available during the month by appointment only to ensure your car seat is properly installed!
More details coming soon!
Playground Safety Tips!
We strongly suggest that your child not wear beads in their hair.

into a school routine.

Bus Transportation!
Please allow a 15 minute window for buses. As the days go on, and the routes become familiar, buses will arrive at your home earlier.
Proper behavior on the bus is a MUST. If a child is unable to remain in his/her seat, disrupts other children, or exhibits dangerous and unruly behavior, he/she is in danger of losing bus privileges permanently. Please talk to your child about how to ride the bus safely. More than 2 write ups from the busing staff can cause your child to lose his/her seat on the bus.
****If your child does not ride the bus for 3 consecutive days, you must contact the school to resume transportation privileges.****
Parent Curriculum: Your Journey Together
WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PRESCHOOLER BUSY AND LEARNING!
Use a timer to see how long it takes your preschooler to get dressed. Can he/she beat his/her time tomorrow?
Talk about your favorite family celebration. Have your preschooler draw a picture of it!
Carry a box of crayons with you. Help your preschooler find objects for each color.
Help your child create a pattern with items found in nature. Example: leaf, acorn, leaf, acorn.
Encourage recycling! Have your preschooler draw a picture of things that can be recycled, such as newspapers and plastic bottles to hang above your trashcan to remind you to recycle those items.
Bee Well Clinic at the Early Learning Center
Closed Wednesdays.
SCHOOL READINESS GOAL: CHILDREN WILL PRACTICE SAFE AND HEALTHY HABITS.
Family Advocates are important!
*****Please ensure that you have turned in all required health documents to your Family Advocate. ALL failed exams require follow up from a professional. Please keep your Advocate informed of all medical appointments and results.*****
