📣 Important Back-to-School Announcements

👔 Uniform Updates:

We are excited to partner with Sir Walter Uniforms to host a Uniform Sale on Monday, August 3, 2026 in the School Cafeteria from 12pm-5pm! To ensure your child is prepared, please click the button below to review uniform requirements by grade level.

Uniforms may also be purchased at the Sir Walter Uniform Store in person or online. Please note that only official HNJ uniform items are permitted, and other store-bought similar uniform items will not meet our school standards.

New for this year:

HNJ PE shirts are available with a smaller HNJ logo and also available in cotton, if requested.
Vintage HNJ shirts and CYS shirts are no longer be permitted for PE days.

As part of our recent Accreditation Visit, Diocesan leaders emphasized the importance of consistency in student uniforms across all Catholic schools. Let's work together to uphold these standards with pride. July is a great time to ensure your child has the uniform items they need.

Teachers will conduct periodic uniform checks to support consistency and reinforce school pride.

🚗 Morning Arrival / Dismissal Procedures (Grades PK3 & VPK) - See button below for map

Families should drop students off between 7:30–7:45 AM using the small carline loop in front of preschool building and form a line staying in your cars.

Teachers / staff will come to your car and ask for your signature for attendance purposes and walk your child to their classroom.
Please use caution and patience while students and staff are arriving and drive 2-3 miles per hour to safely move your cars in an orderly manner.
PK3 students will be walked into their PK3 classroom and VPK students will be walked into the cafeteria for their morning preschool prayer and routines, and then proceed to their respective classrooms.
The same procedures will be followed at dismissal time, except your child will be escorted to your car by a staff member to ask for your signature for evidence of attendance.

🚗 Morning Arrival Procedures (Grades K–8) - See button below for map

Please note our arrival procedures:

Families should drop students off between 7:30–7:45 AM using the appropriate carline in front of the gym / athletic center.
Please ensure that a staff member is present prior to dropping off your child at 7:30 AM for safety and supervision.
Parents who wish to join us for Morning Assembly should bring their car tag for identification.
Students will line up in the gym according to their grade level.
Our school day will begin promptly at 7:45 AM with our Morning Assembly in the gym, where we will say the Pledge of Allegiance, sing a patriotic song, and pray before heading to each class with your child's homeroom teacher.

⏰ Tardy & Attendance Policy

To ensure a smooth start to the day and comply with state scholarship requirements, we kindly ask all families to observe the following:

Gym doors close promptly at 7:45 AM.
Students arriving after this time will be marked tardy.
Parents must then park in the south parking lot near the outdoor pavilion on the other side of campus and sign their child in at the School Office to properly document the tardy.

Why it matters: Excessive tardiness or absences can impact state scholarship eligibility (including Step Up for Students) and school enrollment. You will be notified of any concerns through parent text alerts and emails. We deeply appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child is present and on time each day.

🚘 Dismissal Procedures / Car Tags for Dismissal / Identification:

As part of our K-8 Silent Dismissal process, a car tag is required for any adult picking up a child, especially during rainy-day dismissal (see directions for rainy-day dismissal below).
Keep your car tag hanging on your rearview mirror during dismissal time and a staff will input your car tag numbers into a keypad on a phone, and your child's teacher will be notified in their classrooms simultaneously, so that your child knows to walk out to the pavillion area to wait as you drive up through the large carline loop that curves through our parking lot south of the pavillion.
Eight to ten cars can be loaded with children all at once and we ask that you always drive up to the green sign that says: "Begin carline here."
Staff members will be standing at posted positions to supervise and facilitate the dismissal process each afternoon.
If you are picking up another student, you must be on that student's FACTS / Renweb Pick-Up List (always important to update list - see instructions below) and a picture of that student's car tag on your phone with advanced written email notice to the school office or that child's teacher from that child's parent for safety protocols.

If you're a new family or need a replacement car tag, please email:
📧 Nancy Easton, Office Manager at neaston@hnj.org prior to August 3, 2026.

🤝 25 Volunteer Hours per Family

We are grateful for the generosity of our school families! Each family is asked to complete 25 volunteer hours throughout the school year, recorded by families in the FACTS / RenWeb Parent Portal using the honor system.

The Home & School Association (HSA) will provide many flexible opportunities to support the school, including:

On-campus volunteering
Baking at home
Donating items for your child’s classroom or the school for volunteer hours

There’s a way for everyone to get involved—whether your time is in the classroom or from your home!

🏠 Welcome, New Families!

Home and School Association (HNJ HSA Parent Club) wants to welcome you!

We are thrilled to welcome our newest families to the HNJ family. Look out for upcoming HSA-hosted events designed to help you connect, get involved, and feel right at home at HNJ! Please contact HSA@hnj.org for any questions on how to get involved in our HNJ Parent Club.

If your child is tardy or is absent, please ensure that you contact the school via email before 9am on the day of the tardy or absence: attendance@hnj.org. After 15 tardies or 15 absences in, students will be placed on an Academic Improvement Plan and a conference with the principal will be required. Students with 20 tardies or 20 absences in one year without special circumstances, may be required to repeat a grade level or may jeopardize their Step Up for Students State Scholarship funding.
