Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Congratulations to Molly Burgraff for placing Top 8 in the Agriscience Fair at Houston Livestock Show.
Molly conducted research over the National FFA Organization common misunderstanding for students involved simply being students who want to pursue a career in agriculture, more specifically as a farmer or rancher. This misconception steers many students away from participation in all that the organization has to offer. Although many people believe that it is all about showing livestock, the incorporation of Leadership Development Event, Career Development Event, Speaking Development Event, and Agriscience Fair allows for students to grow in ways that differ from simply gaining agriculture knowledge. Students progress in their ability to communicate effectively, speak with purpose, study efficiently, and work hard for something they believe in. The National FFA Organization's mission statement is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture education. WIthout a doubt, the organization is founded on the principles of American agriculture, but it us used in a way that inspires students to find success in whatever industry they are passionate about.
Kate Stuckey had a great week at the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo. Not only did she do amazing with her rabbits, she received a $1,000 Kane Scholarship.
