Dear Edgemont Community,

Tomorrow marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. It was a day that changed our nation and forever altered countless lives, communities, and families.

As we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, we are especially mindful of those within our own community and throughout our region for whom September 11 is not simply a moment in history, but a deeply personal loss. To those families, we extend our continued compassion, respect, and remembrance.

We also remember the extraordinary courage of the first responders who, in the normal course of doing their jobs, gave so selflessly and displayed a degree of courage and humanity that was unparalleled.

For many of our students, September 11 is an event they know only through history. As educators and families, we have an important responsibility to help them understand its significance while ensuring that the stories of those who were lost, and the courage and compassion demonstrated in its aftermath, are never forgotten.

Tomorrow, at approximately 8:46 a.m., our students and staff will be given the opportunity to observe a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives and to honor all whose lives were forever changed by that September morning.

Yours for the sake of all children,

Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton
