Transformation Zone Coaches

In efforts to streamline our communications we will be sending one correspondence weekly to cut down on the volume of emails you receive from the TZ Support Team.

Side by side coaching with all coaches are being scheduled as you begin your next round of coaching cycles.

In order to do this, please complete the following:

• Identify one teacher who will be a part of this process
• Schedule a paired walkthrough between Oct 26th-Nov 6th for 20-30 minutes
• Schedule a time to debrief directly following observation. During this time we will prepare your agenda and talking points for your teacher debrief.
• Schedule a paired debrief with the teacher so I can observe and provide you with feedback on your coaching conversation and next steps.
• Please review the Initial Coaching Conversations Guide from the Coaching folder in the Google Drive.

A big THANK YOU to all of you amazingly hard-working TZ coaches! The TZ Guided Reading/Small Group survey has been completed by most of the teachers in TZ.

The response was great and all because of you. Our team appreciates your efforts and we have begun planning based on the feedback.

Quarter 2 walkthroughs focused on Math will be conducted October 23-November 13th. If you have not already scheduled an instructional walk, including all the classrooms you support please schedule them with Patsy Hall this week. To help with scheduling please send available dates within the two-week window set for your school.

The Q2 (Tier 1) instructional walks will focus on:

Coaches/MCLs were shown the smooth & direct correlation between Eureka Math & Math in Practice by analyzing student work in Eureka Exit Tickets with both what the student knew & what she needed more practice with. Afterward, I also shared this PPT presentation via email with coaches/MCLs which they are welcome to use as they deem necessary. The goal was for coaches/MCLs to share the correlation of Eureka Math & Math in Practice with their teachers by Oct. 30 with the hope for teachers to be using the high quality resource of Math in Practice for math remediation by Nov. 16.

Great work on keeping PLCs meaningful for your teachers!

Our focus for Quarter 2 PLC cycles will be Math for the first four weeks (suggested emphasis on Read Draw Write) and ELA (suggested emphasis on Building Knowledge Networks) for the last four weeks. Please remember to focus on developing all elements of the cycle--lesson planning, Professional development, and data analysis. Building cohesion around what we present in PLCs will have a long-term impact on instruction and teacher understanding.

HMH Reminder: if a student has been rostered through Powerschool for 4 days, and the student is still not showing up on your HMH roster, please open an IT ticket.

In Sync Reminder: Please let us know if you still do not have access to In Sync via Clever.

Testing Updates

Please monitor your staff for test security training, to be completed by 10/30.

• Please view the DNP tab on your IREAD tracker and remove any students no longer rostered at your school. The list is based on Summer 2019 scores.
