Dear HMS Families,

We hope this newsletter finds you well on this beautiful sunny Friday! It seems like such a treat after the rain we've been having. We had a great week with all the kids, getting into some classrooms, hosting basketball and wrestling events, and just laughing at the situations we find ourselves in. We have the best kids and it makes it incredibly fun to come to work every day.

We have our Veterans Assembly on Monday, November 10th from 9:40-10:30am. We would love to have you join us for this event if you are able.

On Monday, November 10th from 9:40-10:30am, we will be honoring our Veterans during our Veterans Assembly in the HMS gym. Our 8th grade band will be playing for this assembly, we will have a guest speaker, and we will be taking some time to honor our Veterans within our school community with a slide show. At the conclusion of the assembly, we will invite our guests to join us for a treat in our cafeteria.

This is a very special day, and we hope you will consider joining us!

We are excited to begin our food drive on Tuesday, November 18th! For those of you who are new to HMS, this is a pretty big deal around here. Our homebase classrooms compete to see who can earn the most points for participating in the food drive. Our whole community gets involved in this event!

Homebase classes will earn points for bringing the following types of food on these specific dates:

11/18 Pasta, pasta sauce, mac & cheese and rice

11/20 Campbell's soup (counts as negative points towards other Homebase classes)

11/21 Stove Top Stuffing

Upcoming Sports Registration - Boys Basketball

Boys basketball registration is currently open and tryouts will begin January 26th. Please make sure that your athlete has a current physical on file, and all forms are signed through FinalForms.

Boys Basketball is open to 7th and 8th grade students. We will have 3 teams and not all athletes who try out will make a team.

The Hockinson PWT is excited to continue supporting the students and staff at Hockinson Middle School this year! In partnership with school administration, we are raising funds for two important initiatives: Staff Appreciation activities HMS Staff Hospitality and new Recess Equipment HMS Recess Equipment.

• Our fundraising goal for staff hospitality this year is $2,500.
• Our fundraising goal for recess equipment this year is $300.

Your support makes a big difference in creating a positive, engaging environment for our students and showing appreciation for our hardworking staff. We would love your help in contributing to these important fundraisers, thank you for being part of our community!
