Twitter

Are you thinking of a new way to reach out beyond the walls of your classroom? Are you looking for free, easy-to-access professional development? Do you want to showcase the learning that is occurring in your classroom? If so, create a professional Twitter account! This social media platform is intended to promote sharing and provide inspiration.

I'd be more than happy to walk you through the process of creating an account and go over the basics of tweeting. You can also watch a tutorial video HERE.

Remember to include the "official" District hashtag #engageD64 in all of your school-related tweets, and follow me @RachelLabuz! :)

*For more information, join me during this Wednesday's Teacher-Direction Collaboration. I will be hanging out in room 202 to answer any Twitter-related questions!

Breakout EDU

Breakout EDU games promote critical thinking, collaboration, and complex problem solving. They can be used in all content areas and with students of all ages.

Each school in District 64 has its own Breakout EDU kit that holds endless possibilities to get students engaged and learning in a unique way. Each kit includes one wooden Breakout EDU Box, a lock box, various locks, a flash drive, a UV flashlight, and an invisible ink pen. During a Breakout EDU game, participants find clues and solve riddles & puzzles to open locks and achieve a goal.

There is an also an iPad app called Locks that students can use for a digital Breakout EDU experience!

For more information about Breakout EDU and to browse through pre-created Breakout games, sign up at breakoutedu.com/welcome. If you'd like to try it out with your students, I'd be happy to help!
