Principal Corner
Hello AES families,
We have much to celebrate at AES this week. The AES PTO raised over $1300 in partnership with he Monadnock Roller Derby. We appreciate the support of the many families who came out Saturday night to skate at the Monadnock Roller Derby skate night fundraiser and support AES PTO. The punk rock outfits were amazing! Thank you to the teachers, Derby members and families who volunteered to make this event a success.
The first Lunch with Lions was held Tuesday. We will rotate groups of students K-4 each Tuesday so all students will have the chance to develop relationships with our Lions volunteers. Our Hobbies Club will begin during the school day the week of the 18th. Groups of students will choose to participate and learn to knit, play instruments, make crafts, garden, practice carpentry skills, play chess and much over.
Reminders:
AES Facebook Page - Follow us on Facebook for up to the minute details and pictures of our day.
AES PTO Facebook Page - Thank you to our PTO group! We need to expand our membership and have a greater representation of voices at our meeting and events. Please know you do not have to attend every meeting in order to make an impact. I encourage each of you to get involved in any way possible. Follow the AES PTO Facebook page. Please contact Molly Lazar at mlazar@conval.edu for more information on how to get involved.
AES Leadership Team - Each year Title I schools are required to review their Title I schoolwide plan for effectiveness. We use our Leadership Team to move this work forward. Your voices are important to us and to this process. We would like to invite families to participate in the review process by joining our Leadership Team. The group meets to review the plan three times per year, including a planning session during the summer. The first review meeting will be held in March. Please contact me via phone or email at bgibney@conval.edu for more information.
Please remember there is no school for students Monday or Tuesday because Conval School District staff have two days of professional development.
Warmest wishes,
Beth Gibney — Principal

Grade 3
Third graders have been reading biographies from the Who Was book series. We’ll be working on a project that will include note taking, informative writing, poetry, creating an online quiz, and presenting work to friends and family. Each student chose a person they wanted to learn more about, and got to reading and taking notes. The room is buzzing with facts and big events that have happened, some of their important people show up in each other's books! We’ve learned lots, and we’re excited to share all of our hard work with you soon. Stay tuned for an invite to learn about some amazing people.

Miss. Gilbert’s class took the opportunity to enjoy the warmer weather and worked outdoors during social studies! We brought out our clipboards and completed opinion writing about what we believe the worst extreme weather would be for New Hampshire to experience. It was so nice to get some fresh air!
