Lassiter Ledger
Week of August 18th
A message from Principal Ibarra
Dear Lassiter Families,
What a fantastic first week back at school! The halls were filled with so much energy and excitement, and it was wonderful to welcome everyone back. Your students did an incredible job of jumping right back into the routine, showing great enthusiasm for learning and reconnecting with their friends and teachers. We're so proud of how well they handled the transition and are already setting a positive tone for the school year ahead.
Thank you for all your support in preparing your students for a smooth start. The success of this first week is a testament to our strong school community. We're looking forward to an amazing year of growth, discovery, and fun, and we'll keep you updated on all the exciting things happening in the classroom and on our campus. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Respectfully,
Principal Ibarra
Lassiter ECHS

House Bill 1481 : Cell Phones & Personal Devices
As part of Texas House Bill 1481, student cell phones and personal communication devices are banned from public high schools during instructional time. As you know, our school is a stand-alone high school on the campus of Dallas College—not in a traditional high school facility—meaning our unique school setting is exempt from complying with HB 1481. This exemption applies to us for two reasons: specific safety considerations, including the lack of metal detectors and PA systems on the college campus, and the reality of needing phones and/or personal wireless devices to complete dual credit coursework.
Please see that attached letter for more details regarding our cell phone policy at Lassiter ECHS.
Student & Parent Handbook
We will be going over the information in this handbook in more detail at our upcoming grade-level parent meetings. In the meantime, we encourage you to read through it, as it contains important information for the school year.
Handbook will be sent home on Tuesday, August 8th. All student MUST return signed Safety & Expectations Contract by Friday, August 15th. Failure to do so will result in no off campus lunch until returned.
