Parent and Community Engagement at Truitt Middle School
Hello Timberwolf families,
I hope your students had a great first week back at Truitt Middle School. It was a very smooth opening week. Students came in prepared on day one and were able to find their classes. Our sixth graders are getting more and more comfortable with campus processes. It's going to be a great year.
We want to invite everyone to save the date for our Open House on Wednesday, September 2 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. This will be an opportunity for families to come visit their student's classrooms and meet their teachers. Open House will be a come and go event. Simply come to campus, and visit each classroom. We would also like to invite you to our Title I meeting on the same night from 5:30 - 6:00. Attending this meeting will get you in the door early and allow you to provide input into campus improvement as we explain how we are meeting the academic needs of each student at Truitt Middle School. Please see the flyers below.
In case you missed it, TEA recently released accountability ratings for last school year. The students and staff at Truitt Middle School did an incredible job and we are proud to have improved up to an 86! That improvement illustrates all of the academic growth our students made over the course of last year. This was the largest growth shown by any middle school in CFISD! Great things are happening at Truitt Middle School.
We are excited to settle into the school year and looking forward to all of our student events. Football and volleyball are underway, as well as our performing arts programs. As parents, continue to encourage your students be involved in something and to attend school every day. Doing these two things will greatly increase the odds of your student earning good grades and open their future to so many opportunities. We tend to see a decrease in attendance on Mondays and Fridays, so please be mindful when scheduling appointments or making plans. We need the Timberwolves here every day.

Procedures for Students Leaving Early
Dear Parents and Guardians,
If you plan on having your student leave early because of a doctor's appointment or non-emergency, please follow these procedures:
- Send a handwritten note with your student information and the time needed to be excused (please make sure your student gives it to attendance before 1st period).
- If sending a note through email, please make sure you attach a photo of your ID and you must send it an hour prior to leaving.
- No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.
Please keep in mind that the state of Texas requires students to be in attendance at least 90% for each class or they will be in danger of losing credit. Try to schedule appointments for after school and ensure your student is on time for first period every day.
Other helpful tips:
- Make sure if your student is absent, please send a doctor's note when your student arrives back to school.
- Only emergency contacts listed can be allowed to take students with previous approval from guardian.
- If a student arrives at school after 7:55 am, make sure to sign them in or send a note. Otherwise, they will be counted absent.
If you have any questions or concerns,
Please email nancy.torres2@cfisd.net or jennifer.villareal@cfisd.net
for any attendance needs

A Parent's Right to Know
Title I is a federally funded program meant to provide opportunities for disadvantaged
children to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to help close the
achievement gap. As a parent of a student receiving Title 1 funds, federal law allows
parents to ask for information about the certification of your child's teacher and/or paraprofessional.
