From the Principal... Matt Clark
Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences over the past two days. We know how busy life can be, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to come into Thompson, connect with our staff, and be part of the story of our 2026–27 school year.
As you know, we spend a lot of time talking with our students about three simple expectations: Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness. While these words are simple, consistently living them out is not always easy, especially during the middle school years. That is where the partnership between home and school becomes so important.
We want our students to be respectful in how they treat classmates, staff, and themselves. We want them to take responsibility for their choices, their learning, and how they respond when they make a mistake. And we want kindness to be something they demonstrate not only when it is easy or when an adult is watching, but in the everyday interactions that shape the culture of our school.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are an important part of that work. When students see the adults in their lives working together, celebrating their successes, addressing areas for growth, and holding consistent expectations, it sends a powerful message. We are all on the same team, helping our students become the people we know they are capable of becoming.
Our theme this year asks, “What’s Your Story?” Thank you for coming into our building this week and continuing to be an important part of the Thompson story. Together, we have the opportunity to make Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness more than words we say. We can make them part of who we are.
Finally, it looks like a beautiful weekend in St. Charles for the annual Scarecrow Fest. If you’re planning on attending, be sure to stop by the D303 tent!
Have a wonderful long weekend everyone, and Roll Thunder!

⚡ PTO Updates
🙌 GET INVOLVED! 🙌
We're excited to share our first volunteer opportunities of the school year. Please take a look at the committees and opportunities Thompson PTO runs and supports throughout the school year. We’d love to have you join us!
A quick note about these opportunities:
Many of the opportunities listed here are for planning and organizing roles that help make out PTO events and programs possible. These are ongoing committee opportunities rather than day-of event volunteer shifts.
There will also be opportunities to volunteer on the day of certain events, such as our dances. Those sign-ups will be shared closer to each event date.
Time commitments are our best estimates and may vary depending on the committee and event. Whether you have a little time to give or would like to take on a bigger role, there’s a place for you! Grab a friend and sign up to help—or jump in and lead a committee of your own.

If you have questions about any of our current volunteer opportunities, please reach out to us. And, as always, we welcome your ideas! If there’s something you’d like to see the PTO do, please let us know. We’d love to hear your ideas and find ways to make them happen.
Mark your calendars now - we hope to see you at many of these events!

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!
We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!
Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.
Here’s how to pitch in:
Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!
Bring them to school all year long.
Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!
Let's pull together and make a difference!
