Notes from the North Park Hive
A little BUZZ from the principal
Thanks for a great week!
Dear Families,
Last week was a GREAT week at NPES! We had great attendance (around 95% and less than 5 tardies - OUTSTANDING), welcomed HUNDREDS of grandparents and engaged in a lot of learning. Thank you for supporting your students so well!
We finished our kindergarten iReady testing this week. This gives us an initial snapshot of each student so we know how to tailor instruction to individual needs. Kindergarten teachers also sent home mid-terms to help you know what your child has been working on so far and what was expected for them to "master" or "demonstrate" this point in the first quarter. You are always welcome to reach out to the teacher or schedule a conference to get more information. We love keeping our families informed, so you are never bothering anyone to ask questions or ask for a discussion.
If you need assistance with the app in any way, please call the NPES office at 270-351-4464 or email laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us. We have about 75% of our school connected, but we want 100%!
Did you know that our students participate in GROW TIME each day? This is our intervention block where students rotate classes based on skills they are learning/mastering. Students are able to receive extra support in reading/math or enrichment during this time.
Please see the info about the flu shot clinic below. Permission forms area due Wednesday, the 17th.
Have a great week ahead!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hayes (principal)

SBDM Election
Preschool Parent Rep Needed
We need to elect a preschool parent representative for our SBDM Council. If you are interested, please reach out to Mrs. Hayes no later than tomorrow afternoon via phone or email. We will have an election later this month. We do have a parent interested, but if you are wanting to run in the election, please let me know so I can prepare the election materials. You may contact me at 270-351-4464 or laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us
September School Lunch Menu
Please note that our lunch menu will sometimes differ from what is listed due to availability of items and delivery dates to our school sometimes being different. All students may eat breakfast and lunch for FREE.
Reading Tree at NPES
Let's fill our reading tree this month!
Our reading tree was off to a great start in August. However, we had a LOT of branches with room to fill. Let's FILL THE BRANCHES IN SEPTEMBER! The September reading tree leaves will be coming home, and you can print out from the link below as well! READ TOGETHER AS A FAMILY!
Week At-a-Glance
Important Form to Complete for ALL Families!
All students will have access to a free breakfast and a free lunch again this school year. However, each family is still required to complete a Household Income Form to maintain accurate data as a requirement for state and federal funding. If this information is not collected accurately, Family Resource Centers, Youth Service Centers and instructional resources are in jeopardy of losing essential funding.
Please fill out even if your family does not qualify. It does not take long at all.
The form is available by CLICKING HERE. Free lunches are provided through a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Its continuation is dependent on the number of school meals served. HCS encourages all students to participate in school lunch and school breakfast as much as possible!
Save the Date!
School picture days will be October 1st and October 2nd. More info to come!

Let's IMPROVE our Attendance!
Each week, we have consistently had the lowest attendance in the district for elementary schools. Let's work hard to IMPROVE. Students should be at school unless they are contagious or feeling too sick to participate. We definitely want to reduce our tardies. Let's all get to school this week and on time!
