Principal's Weekly Update

Week of September 30 - October 4

Principal'sWeekly UpdateWeek of September 30 - October 4

Administrator's Message 🐾 Administrator's Message 🐾

Wildcat Families,

We know that our drop-off and pick-up lanes are busy. We ask that you please follow our signage and staff instructions to ensure a smooth and safe environment for all. Our staff members have to speak loudly outside to ensure drivers can hear over vehicles, pedestrians, etc. With the many pedestrian accidents happening in our community, it is imperative that we work as a team to ensure safety, especially around students.

This week was full of great lessons in class, extracurriculars and campus life. Check out the updates and pictures below for important information.

The first dance of the year is coming up! Ticket sales are starting. See the PTO section below for more information. Volunteers are needed to make sure these events for our students are possible.

Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity

The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.

October is National Anti-Bullying Month. Though there have always been bullies, it wasn’t until the 1970s that the issue began to be researched. Dr. Dan Olweus, a Norwegian psychologist, developed a bullying prevention program that helped to inform American anti-bullying efforts in the 1990s. Georgia and California were two of the states that were quickest to adopt anti-bullying legislation. For California, this came in 2008 and focused specifically on eliminating the emerging threat of cyberbullying. FSUSD will be providing anti-bullying workshops for 5th graders this year. In addition, students can use the STOPit app (on the FSUSD website) to anonymously report acts of bullying/cyberbullying.

Mock Election

BGW is participating in CA's Student Mock Election this year. Our history teachers are providing information on the candidates and props to prepare our students for the mock election.

Students may visit our library before school, at lunch or after school to cast their votes.

The Student Mock Election will stir students' interest in voting by tapping into the excitement of the campaign season. As students learn about the candidates and issues, they discover how government and politics affect every part of their lives. They gain firsthand knowledge of how citizens make their voices heard in our democracy and experience the power of their votes when they are joined by thousands of California students who will vote in the California Student Mock Election this year.

Math Tutoring

This week's BGW math tutoring will take place after school in:

  • Room 22 with Ms. Mitchell on Monday, Sep 30th
  • Room 9 with Ms. Lunch on Thursday, Oct 3rd
