eLearning Day, April 18 (Friday)
Due to the severe weather closure on February 19, we will have a make-up eLearning day on Friday, April 18, 2025. Students will not attend school in person but will participate in remote learning from home.
Students in grades K-5 will receive assignments in reading, math, science, and social studies. These assignments will be available on Schoology or ClassDojo for easy access. Once completed, students should submit their work using the method specified by their teacher.
To support students, kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers will offer three scheduled Zoom sessions to provide assistance, answer questions, and clarify instructions. Your child’s classroom teacher will provide additional instructions on how to access Zoom and submit assignments.
If you have any questions regarding the eLearning day, please reach out to your child’s teacher or me for assistance. We appreciate your cooperation and support in ensuring a smooth transition to remote learning for this make-up day.
Sincerely,
DrT

Farley's Report Card Score
The Alabama State Department of Education recently released School Report Card scores and Farley Elementary was awarded a 94!!! This score represents a multi-year trend of improvement in Academic Achievement and a significant reduction in the percentage of students who are considered Chronically Absent. The three-year trends are visualized below:
Attendance
Parents may excuse only 8 days for the entire school year.
Parents - remember that excuse notes must be submitted promptly. The HCS expectation is that within 3 days, a parent or doctor's note is submitted to the school. After 8 excused absences (not individual notes), students must have a doctor's note. A student checked out before 11:30AM is considered absent unless they check back in.
Farley Elementary's Chronic Absenteeism rate is around 6%, which lower than our surrounding schools. However, when schools receive their Report Card scores, 15% of the total grade is based on the percentage of students who are Chronically Absent. We lost one point on our Report Card Grade. I would like to get that point back this year, which means our CA rate needs to be less than 3%.
Chronic Absenteeism is defined as a student missing 18 or more days for the school year, regardless of reason.
