🟡 Superintendent's Message 🟡 🟡 Superintendent's Message 🟡

Dear Flyer Families and Community Members,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Norwood-Norfolk community. This week, our school budget passed with a resounding 83% in favor!

An overwhelming margin like this is a powerful reminder of how much this community values our students, our staff, and the future of our schools. Your support ensures that we can continue to provide top-tier academic programs, robust extracurricular opportunities, and a safe, enriching environment where every Flyer can thrive.

Thank you for your continued partnership, your trust, and your unwavering commitment to our schools. We could not do this without you!

Best regards,

Brooke Ashley

🥪 Community Lunch Program for Kids 🥪

Currently located in the First United Methodist Church of Norfolk, CLPK was started to address food insecurity in children when schools are closed and students do not have access to free/ reduced breakfast/ lunch programs. We distribute food prior to winter break, spring break, every two weeks during the summer (starting mid-June running through August), as well as prior to Thanksgiving break and Christmas break; approximately 10-11 food distributions each year.

This program is open to all families with children who reside in the NNCS District who fit financial guidelines (See below). The amount of food given is based on the number of children (birth-age 18). Each child receives the equivalent of approximately 15 meals at each food distribution.

Families need to be signed up with CLPK and are called a couple of days before each distribution to be alerted to pick up time. If the family does not have transportation,

we will deliver food.

Please call 315.212.0520 or email wchambers384@gmail.com to sign up your family.

The Boys Varsity Track & Field team finished their regular season with a 4-5 record (6th in Section X).

The three seniors, Caedon Stewart, Mason Waite, and Ethan Parker ended their seasons leading the team in a variety of events.

Caedon leads the team in shot and disc. He has huge goals for the Sectional meet to throw 120 in disc and 35+ in shot. He is an incredible teacher for the younger athletes and plans to return to help after he graduates.

Mason continues to improve in 110 hurdles, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. His push to place high in all three events in Sectionals will be exciting for the team.

Ethan continues to show great form and incredible strength in sprints. He has had an awesome career and will do great things with his future.

The season has been a great success. Many younger athletes will continue to lead this team to a bright future. Clark Hewitt in the mile and two mile. Carter Alexander, Seth Jones, Loudon Kent, and Tristan Nickel in the jumps. Aiden Fregoe in the sprints with a focus on the 400m. Blake Laferriere in the sprints. William Forney, Wyatt Cryderman, Torin Gates, and Lucas Kent in the hurdles. Caleb Rousset, Liam King, Joe Orologio, and Connor Murphy in the throws. Simon Diederich in the middle distance.

The Juniors: Riley Sweet, Danny Laferriere, Earl Sweeney, and Nikki Betts will be a major force next year leading this team. 2026 was a wonderful season for this bunch of wonderful young men. 🏃

15 teams at this year’s Van Dusen Invitational.

The team was led by seniors Allie Snell and Madison Carista.

Montgomery, Amelia Kent, Emerson Garrow, Addie Snell, Jordan Perry, Sophie Merriman,

Grace Green, Brielle Gates, and Eliza Colbert.

The golf team has been blessed to have several seniors on its team this year. Flyers Reilly Russell, Tate Tharrett, Brody Hazen, Sophie Shoen, and Filip Soltys were accompanied by John Boyce and Gage Lamb who joined the team through our merger agreement with Brasher Falls.

Reilly, John, and Gage frequently posted our team’s best scores in each match. Their consistent play along with the maturity and commitment shown by Tate and Brody, was an inspiration to our younger team members as a level to strive for.

Sophie’s fundraising efforts were very beneficial to the team and her role on the team is inspirational to younger girls, including my own daughter who says she “loves Sophie so much” and really looks up to her! Filip, an exchange student, came out for the team new to playing golf, but made strides as he practiced more and now plays on his own on the weekends sometimes, developing an admiration for the game!

While our team will not be the same next year without these seniors, their dedication and presence on our team this year will certainly live on as the rest of the team grows. I wish them the best as they move on to the next stage of their journeys!
