Deer Run Families,
This week was an exciting one at Deer Run! Our third grade students took the Fall Ohio State English Language Arts Test, and we are so proud of their hard work and focus.
Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students also had a special opportunity to participate in the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Assembly with former Buckeyes Ted Ginn Jr. and Michael Stafford. It was an inspiring and fun event that encouraged students to set goals and stay active.
We also concluded our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you to all of our families who took the time to connect with teachers and partner with us in supporting your child’s learning and growth.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to celebrate Harvest Parties next Friday!
In addition, we are collecting socks for Socktober to support those in need. Please see the message below for more details on how your family can participate.
Thank you for your continued support in making Deer Run a wonderful place for students to learn and grow!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Deer Run Updates
It is Sockotober and We Need Your Help...
Did you know that socks are the most requested item by people seeking help with clothing?
Every December, 3rd & Goal distributes more than 200 packs of socks to Veterans. The Open Shelter is a day services shelter and advocacy center for homeless and marginally housed people in Columbus, Ohio. The Open Shelter provides essentials for survival like hot meals, sack lunches, hygiene products, clothing, and socks.
Our goal is to collect 500 pairs of NEW socks during October to donate to 3rd & Goal and The Open Shelter. Donations can be dropped off at Deer Run Elementary or shipped directly to The Open Shelter or 3rd & Goal. If you choose to ship socks directly, please let your child know the number of socks to add to our school total.
Thank you for helping make this October our first-ever Sock-tober at
Deer Run Elementary!
Harvest Party Day
Our Harvest Parties will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 2:30 - 3:15 PM. Students are allowed to wear costumes on this day. Please note that students will wear their costumes for the day and will not be changing into costumes for the party. Please keep this in mind before determining a costume to wear to school. We want to ensure that students can navigate their school day comfortably. Students should wear costumes that are school appropriate and do not include play weapons of any kind.
Dismissal Changes
In the event of an emergency and the need to change a student's dismissal method be sure to send an email to the classroom teacher AND the attendance email (Dres_attendance@dublinschools.net). Teachers are extremely busy during the school day, therefore, it is not guaranteed that the teacher would have time to review the parent email prior to dismissal. Be sure to submit changes as early as possible to increase the likelihood that the communication will be received by our school team prior to dismissal.
Student Car Drop Off and Pick Up
As a reminder, car drop off and pick up for all students should take place at the back door of the school. Last school year, students were being dropped off at Grizzell, in the school parking lot, and in the neighborhood adjacent to the school. We want to ensure that all of our students are safely dropped off at school, therefore only the backdoor area should be used. Also, we also want to be considerate of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the school. Therefore, adhering to this guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
School Lunch
Information regarding school lunch can be found on the DCS website here.
Please note for Wednesday, October 8 there is has been a change to the lunch menu. Lunch will consist of beef hotdogs instead of corndogs. Thank you!
