The Riverwalk Roar
August 10, 2025
A Note from Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to soak up some of the sunshine on Saturday.
I want to take a minute to share my sincere appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and teamwork I’ve seen from our students, staff, and families this past week. Whether it was a safety patrol member walking a nervous kindergarten student into the building, a parent jumping another parent’s car in the car line, a staff member anonymously leaving notes of encouragement on desks, or one of the many unseen acts of kindness and support that happened throughout the week—I want you to know that we see you, and we are truly grateful.
You are what makes the Riverwalk Pride unlike any other school community.
As we move into this new week, let’s keep celebrating the big wins and the small victories, because every step forward is worth recognizing.
I also have a quick favor to ask. When I first arrived at Riverwalk Academy, I asked everyone: “Why Riverwalk?”—essentially, why did you choose Riverwalk Academy? The responses became a word cloud that we printed on our staff shirts the following year and even displayed on the wall in our elementary school conference room.
It’s been about seven years, and I’d love to do this again. Click here and, in one word, tell us: “Why Riverwalk?”
Lions, on behalf of the staff, thank you for helping make this one of the best school openings we’ve ever experienced. We truly appreciate you and are grateful that you made the choice to be part of the Riverwalk Pride.
In Pride and Purpose,
~Dr. Compton
Pic of the Week!
We had quite a lot of rain this week and most of it occurred during the morning arrival times. In spite of the wet conditions, our staff and Safety Patrol students were busy greeting students as the arrived and they did so with smiles!
