Introducing the Principal's Panel Introducing the Principal's Panel

We’re excited to enter into our 2nd year of the Principal’s Panel! This group is made up of selected fourth-grade students who will serve as representatives, sharing feedback directly with Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Tofani about what’s going well in our school and what could be improved. Their voices will help shape the student experience and ensure that Red Mill continues to be a place where every child feels safe, seen, and connected.

The goal of the Principal’s Panel is simple but powerful: to leave Red Mill better than they found it. Through thoughtful conversations, creative ideas, and a commitment to positive change, these students will help us build an even stronger school community. Each month, the Principal’s Panel will have a special section in our newsletter to share their ideas, suggestions, and celebrations with the Red Mill community. We can’t wait to hear what they have to say and see the impact of their leadership!

Zones of Regulation Update Zones of Regulation Update

What Are We Learning?

Our students have learned what Regulation is and how it helps us. Regulation means being able to adjust or control something so it works well. Students discussed how we can regulate our bodies in a variety of ways, such as eating a snack to regulate hunger, drinking water to regulate thirst, taking a nap to regulate being tired, putting on a jacket to regulate temperature, and using deep breathing to regulate feelings and behaviors.

Why Is It Important?

Regulation is an important skill that helps us manage life’s ups and downs. It supports our

ability to work, to interact with others, and to feel more comfortable throughout our day.

To put it another way, regulation supports our well-being.

How Can You Support The Zones of Regulation At Home?

To help with learning, discuss these questions together.

  • What are some things we can regulate, adjust, or manage?
  • What is a way you can regulate your body? How does that affect how you feel?

We'll be back next month with some more helpful tips for supporting this work at home!

Spread Some Sunshine! Spread Some Sunshine!

At Red Mill, we know that a little kindness can go a long way! We’re inviting families to help us spread some sunshine throughout our school community by sending a special note of appreciation to a staff member. Every day, our staff works hard to support, encourage, teach, and care for our students, and a simple message letting someone know their hard work has been noticed can truly make their day. These notes are a meaningful reminder that the little things our staff do each day matter and make a difference.

This isn’t just for classroom teachers! We encourage you to recognize any staff member who makes a difference for your child—from homeroom teachers and specialists to cafeteria staff, custodians, office staff, instructional assistants, and everyone in between. Your message can come from a parent or guardian, or it can be written by your student!

Whether it’s a quick “thank you,” a story about a meaningful moment, or simply a few words of encouragement, your kindness can brighten someone’s day and spread positivity throughout our Red Mill community.

💛 Have someone you’d like to thank? Share your message by completing this Google Form! 💛

When dropping your student off in the morning, please practice these helpful tips to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all!

  • Students should exit their car when you pull up to the curb. You do not have until the crosswalk to do so.
  • Students can be dropped off beginning at 8:35. Staff will remain outside until 8:55. If you arrive after 8:55, please park in an available spot, and walk your child to the office.

Thank you for your help in keeping our drop off system efficient and safe for everyone!
