Viz Whizz Dogs
Happy Thanksgiving
Dear Viz Whizzers,
Wishing all our Viz Whizzers a very Happy Thanksgiving. Truly grateful for our incredible community that always supports each other.
Especially grateful for all our Pack Leaders who volunteer their time to host meet ups! We couldn’t do what we do without you and truly appreciate everything you do.
To all our foster families, adopters, transporters and supporters, thank you for always being there when a dog has needed help. Our Thanksgiving miracle, Nina is now out of the kill shelter and safe with her foster family. These things aren’t possible without amazing people stepping up and making it happen. I’m so grateful for all of you.
Happy Thanksgiving Viz Whizz family, stay safe, hug your pups and have the best day remembering and celebrating with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you on the trails.
Nicky xoxo
Nina our Thanksgiving miracle
Sharing good news, Nina is out of the high kill shelter in San Antonia, Texas. We first heard about Nina via our wonderful Vizlsa rescue friends from CWVRG and quickly sprang into action asking for our community to help. Nina's plea quickly went viral and thanks to Aimee Pirtle we were able to get her 'adopted', she was visited daily and then picked up yesterday evening after her spay and dropped her off at her foster moms home, Karen Miller. Karen has helped us foster before and we know Nina is in great hands. We are taking things very slowly with Nina as we try and get her settled and give her space as she’s just so scared. We got a text early this morning to let us know she'd had a good first night and ate some food. Nina truly is our Thanksgiving miracle.
We are asking for donations as we prepare to get Nina the vet care and training she will need to be placed in a new home. If you would like to donate, we're accepting donations via our PayPal and Venmo accounts, details at the end of our newsletter. Please comment Nina.
Atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Diseases (aCIRD).
By now you'll have seen the news or a Facebook post about the mysterious respiratory disease that is affecting so many dogs. This is an update from a qualified veterinarian.
"80 + percent of canine infectious respiratory disease (like human colds) are benign and self limiting. If your dog is eating, drinking and bouncing around like normal and coughing your pet is most likely going to be just fine. Just keep them home. If your dog is coughing, lethargic and not eating, see a veterinarian immediately. Have a respiratory panel done and radiographs".
If you dog does show any symptoms of coughing, lethargy and not eating, please go directly to your vet. Ask them about the bordetella vaccine. Viz Whizz is recommending members try and avoid taking your dog to dog groomers, day care and boarding facilities. Instead find a dog sitter or dog walker to help as everyone learns more about this disease.
