BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
The LABOD (Legacy Academy Board of Directors) will have a board meeting on July 28, 2026 at 6pm in the cafeteria (AGENDA HERE). If you cannot attend the LABOD meeting in person, feel free to watch via Zoom. You can find the past meeting minutes on our website or click HERE.
FROM THE FRONT OFFICE
Our 2026-2027 school year is about to begin, and we are sad to say goodbye to our summer break, but we are excited to see our families again! The school office will be open Tuesdays from 9am-1pm and will return to normal hours on August 3rd. They will be involved in training at different times, but they will check messages throughout the day (303) 646-2636. If you have moved or changed your child's enrollment plans, please notify us promptly HERE.
Parent Portals Passwords
Legacy Academy uses two secure programs that require parents to set up passwords. Finalsite (formerly SchoolAdmin) allows parents to register and submit the needed information. Infinite Campus stores student information including grades, attendance, and assignments. Mrs. McQuigg will set up your access for Infinite Campus, but you must email her at joann.mcquigg@legacyk8.org.
Looking for affordable uniforms? Stop by our Used Uniform Sale on August 3rd from 3-6pm where the price is right. Shirts, pants, skirts will be sold for $1 each.
If you are available to help set up at 12pm, please sign up below.
Uniform Information
You are not obligated to purchase school uniforms from any specific store, as long as they meet the same standards as those shown on Educational Outfitters' website at educationaloutfitters.com (make sure you are looking under Legacy Academy). Please review dress code guidelines before purchasing uniforms. Children are allowed to wear a navy, gray, or royal blue hoodie/zip sweatshirt if you do not want to purchase one with our logo. The items you buy from Royal B Threads will be sent directly to Legacy Academy and delivered to your student in August. Elizabeth Walmart carries our uniforms, but could have some in inventory that differ from our approved items. Please label EVERYTHING with your name in case it is misplaced.
EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING
As we prepare for a new school year, we’re thrilled to welcome back our Legacy families and extend a warm welcome to all of our new families joining our Legacy community!
Our school family continues to grow, and we’re excited to see that growth reflected on our campus with the addition of the new specials classrooms.
6TH GRADE ORIENTATION & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
6th grade students will have an orientation from 2-3pm on Friday, August 7th. Students are required to wear their school uniform and bring the necessary school supplies. Pre-ordered school supply kits will be handed out to students in their classrooms. 6th grade parents will need to park and walk students to the gym, where they will stay for a 45-minute orientation. Additionally, every 6th grade student is invited to participate in a science-based outdoor adventure trip at the YMCA in Estes Park, Colorado September 28-30th. Email jen.zander@legacyk8.org with questions.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Join us on August 7th from 3-6pm for Back to School Night as we kick off another amazing year at Legacy. Come participate in an evening of delicious food from El Cerrito's and Kona Ice and some fun games! Legacy gear will be available to purchase so you can show off your Wildcat pride all year long! Bring the whole family to celebrate the start of another great year together.
Teacher Assignments
As families enter the school for Back to School Night, they will be given the location and teacher for their student(s).
School Supplies
Elementary students- please bring your school supplies on Back to School Night. If you preordered from 1st Day School Supplies, they will already be in your child’s classroom.
6th grade students do not have to attend Back to School Night because they have attended orientation.
7th & 8th grade students- please do not bring supplies until your first day of school.
If your family cannot attend Back to School Night, please bring your supplies on the first day of school.
Carpool
We will most likely have a different system for middle school carpool than last year. We will post and update once it is finalized. All new families will receive their carpool number signs and instructions on how the carpool operates at Back to School Night
Before and After School Program
Legacy Academy offers a licensed before and after school program during the school year.
Before school hours: 6:30-7:30 am
After school hours: 3:30-6pm
If you are interested in the program, please fill out the interest form below as soon as possible. Registration will occur at Back to School Night. However, the interest form allows our team to estimate the number of students we can expect to participate in our program.
Medical/Immunizations/Physical
Please drop off the required forms and medication if you have not already provided them. If your student takes medication at school, please have it in the proper container with the pharmacy label. You will also need to have the appropriate school form signed by you and your doctor. If you are new to the school and have a student who will require medication during the school day, please stop by to discuss and pick up the proper forms.
Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, Colorado law will require students to receive a dose of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine before the first day of 7th grade. This is a change from previous years, when it was required before 6th grade.
Before your student’s first day of 7th grade, please provide one of the following:
An immunization record showing your student received an adolescent dose of Tdap on or after their 10th birthday.
A Certificate of Medical or Non-medical Exemption- Exemption forms require a doctor’s signature (the certificate is provided after completing the Online Immunization Education Module).
An in-process plan- This requires you to email details about when the vaccines will be received, such as the date of a scheduled appointment or extenuating circumstances. Please email this to Office@Legacyk8.org.
For more information about immunizations or exemptions, click here.

LUNCH INFORMATION
Legacy Academy will offer free lunches for all students. Please remember that hot lunches must be ordered by 8:15am. If your student will be arriving after that time, you must call the office (before 8:15am) to request one. If this deadline passes, you will be asked to provide a cold lunch for your child. You can view school lunch menus on our website. If you would like your child to have milk with their cold lunch, there is a charge of $ 0.75. You can pay by check, cash, or through our online payment method. Please write checks to Elizabeth Food Service; cash must be in an envelope. We will need your student's first and last name, as well as their teacher's name, on the check memo or envelope.
Legacy Academy is excited to participate in the Healthy School Meals for All program, which Colorado voters approved. All students will have access to free, healthy, nutritious school meals in the 2026-2027 school year. Here is additional information and a few important reminders about what this means for our school and families.
- While meals will be free to all Legacy Academy students, we need to continue gathering this information to receive full access to available federal funds that support nutritional programs at our school. We ask all Legacy Academy families to complete the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Lunches. Families who fill out the form may also qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utility support, and more. This form provides all household income information, which is strictly confidential and legally protected. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship, or refugee status is not required when completing the form.
If you have questions about completing the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Lunches, please contact the Elizabeth School District's nutrition department at tmaher@esdk12.org or 303-646-1850.
Learn more about the Healthy School Meals for All program in this short video. To enter information for your online Free and Reduced Application, you must create an account with PaySchools (link below) using your student's School ID number. To get their ID number, call the office on Tuesdays between 9am-1pm to request it or wait until the office staff returns on August 3rd. You only need to submit one application per household.

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
We are grateful the Elizabeth School District provided busing last year, but the service will not be available to Legacy families this coming school year. We know that this is disappointing to some as it was a tremendous help to our families who opted to use it. Ride sharing or carpooling is something Legacy families have done for many years, even before district busing was provided last year. We understand this creates an inconvenience for families and we will continue to brainstorm solutions. As another option, we are still offering before and after school care services for families. All new families will receive their carpool number signs and instructions on how the carpool operates at Back to School Night.
Additionally, Legacy will continue to have class field trips and activities through alternative transportation services. This does mean there may be a slight increase in cost, but we will do what we can to keep that cost to a minimum. It is still important to us as an educational institution that our students are still continuing to create real world connections and participate in experiential learning opportunities.
