Randall Weekly Update - Week 1

Good afternoon, Randall families!

The first four days of school have been nothing short of outstanding. Students and teachers are building relationships and beginning their first academic units. We are learning classroom procedures and schoolwide expectations. We are settling into habits and routines that encourage and accelerate student learning. Moreover, we are continuing to build an outstanding school community that each and every student and staff member should be proud of!

Thank you to the parents and guardians who have followed the school pick up and drop off routines. It is our primary goal to ensure student safety while also respecting your time and being as efficient as possible. Administration and staff will be a steady presence before and after school outside of the building to help our students enter and exit cars and buses. Again, thank you for cooperating with the process and helping maintain a safe routine for pick up and drop off.

Next week, we will begin to implement the i-Ready diagnostic assessments, which students in grades 1-8 complete three times per school year. The i-Ready is an adaptive diagnostic assessment for reading and math which pinpoints individual students' needs down to the sub-skill level. After the diagnostic test, individual pathways will be created for students based on their personal outcomes. Parents and guardians, we ask that you talk to your child(ren) about giving their best effort on the diagnostic assessment so that we can get an accurate data point of where they are at academically.

We look forward to working with you and your student(s) as we begin the school year.
It is my goal to be as clear and supportive as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at agarcia@randall.k12.wi.us with any questions or concerns.

Go Wildcats!

Alexandra Garcia-Bankowski

Hi Randall Families!

I've had such a great week seeing these kiddos back in the hallways! I hope they've enjoyed being here, too! This year at Randall, we have implemented our Social-Emotional Learning curriculum, Character Strong, for the whole school year. This is the same curriculum that I used in Guidance last year for my 4K-2nd graders. I'm excited that each student in the building is now getting these lessons and learning some of these important skills.

This week was our "Kindness Kickoff" week! What a better way to start a new school year than to learn about how we can be kind? In my guidance classes, we had some important discussions about what "kindness" looks like. Then each student was able to color a bookmark (see photo) with a quote about kindness on it. I collected and laminated them with the hope that they will serve as a small reminder throughout the year to simply be kind :)

Thank you,

Ms. Roth

Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall

Randall School is pleased to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT confidential tipline as part of our school safety efforts. Tiplines are used to identify threats to schools, and for concerns impacting school age youth such as bullying, drug use, suicidal thoughts and more. Schools that promote and use tiplines have less violence overall. The SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) tipline is run by the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Office of School Safety. Parents and students, this tool is available for anyone to use to help keep the Randall Community safe!

Randall students will engage in learning about how to advocate for their own (and others') safety and well-being over the next month in partnership with our counselor, Mrs. Roth, as well as other members of our student services team. We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of communicating when/if they feel that their safety may be compromised.

Here is a LINK to an informational flyer about Speak Up Speak Out.

Thank you in advance for all of your support!
